Back in the day the Shore Dinner Hall would be filled up with hungry park goers and their families. The chowder , clamcakes and watermelon were superb. It was always a good time and then back to the rides after stuffing yourself ! It breaks your heart to see the parks fate as it entertained so many generations for a very long time.

This is the saddest thing I ever saw, I am sitting here crying. I lived in Rhode Island until I was 28 and this park was such a huge part of my life all the way through. When I was kid, my parents took me. When I was a teenager, I would go with my friends. And when I was adult, I would got there on dates. And through all that time, the Shore Dinner Hall was me and my dad's thing...He passed away two years ago at the age of 92, both of us having moved away from RI across country at separate times to two different states that were side by side...so that we wouldn't be far apart. He was my best friend ever...and I miss him so much. We spent literally 100's if not thousands of days and evenings over nearly three decades enjoying the delicious clam cakes and chowder in the dinner hall. It was all-you-can-eat and eat we would! We would be so stuffed when we left we could barely stand but we loved every minute of it. To see it like this breaks my heart even as it brings back such wonderful, poignant and ever-lasting memories of a girl, her daddy and a life not forgotten.

Chowder no one else could copy. Quahogs harvested right there and start by melting fatback in a pan or you can’t even get close.

I lived in New York City in New Jersey for the past 28 years and I came back to Rhode Island. I was so sad to hear that it wasn’t there anymore. I wish they at least kept the diner open. Miss those clam cakes and chowder. They were the best.

it breaks my heart how the state in my opinion could have stepped up and ensure this park could have kept going and didnt lift a finger to help

Was the flea market in the dinner hall? I remember going to the rocky point flea market all the time as a kid and I swear it was in the dinner hall but I'm not positive lol

@@joshuaa1605 Yes, I set up there in the 80's. It was Sat. & Sun. On Sunday, they had entertainment, usually Ron Bianco with his singing dog or Eddie Zach with his country band.

That's sad. I remember going there. I thought they were redeveloping all the Rocky Point property.
