A clip of Stedman Cinques viewed from the belfry of Great St. Mary’s in Cambridge before the same Sunday service as the previous video - it’s just taken a while to get around to getting it uploaded! The belfry has a similar set up to Coventry Cathedral in that there’s a glass viewing box for the belfry, however, this time it is on the level of the bells rather than above them.
The tenor of this set of 12 is 24cwt - 1 - 1 or 1232kg and can be seen in the opposite corner to the filming. The bell which is not moving is the flat 6th. All 13 of the ringing bells were cast by Taylors in 2009 and have a lovely sound and the ones I got to ring had lovely handling.
As in the previous the striking of the ringing is absolutely super! After visiting this tower, it didn’t surprise me to hear that the Cambridge band came 2nd in the recent 12 bell striking competition, well done to them!
