Inside the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh

The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh is all about sparking creativity through hands-on play where kids learn about science, technology and art. The museum draws from the advice it received from Fred Rogers of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" and still has memorabilia from the show.

Pittsburgh Children’s Museum has an exhibit referred to as the anti gravity room. There are no signs or indications that you are going to enter such an area. I simply followed my four year old granddaughter as she led the way into this area. I walked in and my body was flung against the opposite wall, where my head hit first with a loud crack and my shoulder next. It was bizarre , I never expected or experienced anything like it in my life. My granddaughter had been in the room before, she simply laid on the floor and rolled toward the wall. I was shocked and tried to pry myself off of the wall in order to exit the room, but my shoulder again hit the wall. Somehow I was able to make my way to the exit, only way down was a slide! I now have a broken clavicle, am out$100.00 for an ER visit, $30.00 for an orthopedic specialist, and this is just the beginning as I’ll need more visits to the orthopedic doctor and physical therapy. I am grateful I didn’t get a concussion. Granddaughter is fine. Anyway, this is not a safe exhibit. Warning signs need to be in place or better yet, the exhibit closed altogether! I am healthy, a yoga instructor teaching nine classes a week. I have great balance, practice inversions on a daily basis. I need to keep the shoulder immobile for six to eight weeks until it heals. A broken collarbone is very painful. The museum is a great addition to the city, that area needs to be re-evaluated, it’s simply not safe or Fun!
