I have so many cherished memories of Friday nights with family watching Dallas & Falcon Crest!!! 🤠

Happy 45th anniversary Dallas. Friday nights in the late 1970's and through the 1980's were amazing because of this show. CBS had a gold mine for their Friday night lineup. At first, it started out as "The Incredible Hulk" at 8pm-9pm, then "The Dukes of Hazzard" from 9pm-10pm, then "Dallas" from 10pm-11pm. Later on, it would change a little when "Falcon Crest" started at 10pm-11pm and "Dallas" and "The Dukes of Hazzard" were pushed to an hour earlier than they were before when "The Incredible Hulk" went off the air. I wish I could explain to younger generations how big this show was. In that time period, for entertainment we had only a handful of tv stations that we could get because of no cable/satellite yet. Television for the most part, other than what entertainment you made yourself, was pretty much the only entertainment available. The fact that there were less channels to watch improved the content of what was already on tv. It wasn't "watered down" like most of the shows on now.

It's amazing how much our TV watching habits have changed with the invention of on-demand shows. My younger self probably would've thought it would be awesome, but now I miss the anticipation of waiting for my favorite shows and all those things you mentioned. Anyway, thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your memories!

I was lucky enough to attend this event and it was such an amazing night. I've been a Dallas fan from the very beginning and fulfilled a lifelong ambition and met Linda Gray at the meet & greet afterwards. She was so gracious and giving of her time. All the cast were a pleasure to watch and meet. Me and my husband met some truly wonderful people that night too. Thank you for the video, it's been a lovely reminder of that special reunion.

Best drama e-v-e-r !! Still watching all my DVDs of the entire series. Linda Gray was my favorite and I think the most gorgeous woman who played on the show even though there were so many beauties, and these ladies are all still beautiful. But you could see on the outside - even when she was drunk (and a good one at that) - that she was truly beautiful on the inside. Love Love Love that show

I have received a range of responses whenever I ask people what their hometown is and have found that most people are unsure of whether they have one. @@Our80sLife Interesting stories about Dallas for you: x It's probably the most important city related to the culture of Nebraska as the entire sports culture of Nebraska stemmed from Nebraska football. Nebraska football (college) and the Dallas Cowboys (NFL) were the top two football teams of the 90s (even both won championships in 1996). x The only place in Texas I have visited is Dallas. My younger brother moved there to unsuccessfully pursue his ex-girlfriend who was originally from the area (he ended up living there an entire year after that situation fell through). It was unfortunate that he was such a buzzkill when we went down to see him lol.

Many thanks for sharing. I dont think people measure the impact Dallas probably had on billions of people on the planet. And I don't really get how come Joan Van Ark, who is a lovely person and a great actress, was invited to participate to the show for she has never really been a "real" member of the Ewing Family and obviously she doesnt have much to say about it.

You're welcome, thanks for watching! We agree it was an odd choice to have her on the stage while Cathy Podewell and Sheree Wilson were sitting in the audience. I'm sure the organizers had their reasons, but we agree with you on that. She was gracious though and very sweet at the meet-and-greet afterwards.

Now i am sure i already know the answer but i want to hear one of them say it. Of course then i would want to know why was the storyline dropped (i am pretty sure i know that as well) but again i want to hear one of them explain it.

If people would read and give an accurate information about Dallas, then people would understand about the property of South Fork Ranch. Mr. Duncan bought the land and his family home in the 1970's . The real land is called Duncan Acers Ranch and one day CBS and Lorimar Productions showed up with their check book and a deal was made between Mr. Duncan between Lorimar and CBS and for the television series the name would change from Duncan Acers to South Fork Ranch in Parker, Texas. In the Summer of 1984 Mr. Duncan and his family had enough of the show's success and moved some where up north. The second owner still allowed for tv series to filmed on the real South Fork Ranch, then in 1989 the second owner got into some bad investments and lost the real South Fork Ranch and Lorimar Productions and CBS had no interest in purchasing the property in 1989. So, the last two seasons of Dallas was only filmed in California on a sound stage and that is why J R and Callie's wedding was performed at the Fake South Fork Ranch. From 1989 to 1992 the one of the banks in Texas owned the real South Fork Ranch. Then in 1992 it was bought by a person who owns Forever Resorts, after that the owner decided to sell the South Fork Hotel to some India male investors and they changed the name from South Fork Hotel to Comfort Inn and they also closed the South Fork Hotel pool while changing the name to Comfort Inn. The former Hotel can be found in Plano, Texas. Later the same person who sold the South Fork Hotel would eventually sell the South Fork property in Parker, Texas to developers many years later. I heard now that now you can rent one of the bedrooms in the real South Fork home for one night and watch the original Dallas in the room you sleep in. If any body knows if Mr. Duncan and his family is still alive, please let the fans know. I would have enjoyed meeting him and his family. Thank You and God Bless - Jason.

I visited Southfork last Sunday, 6-18-23, and was speaking to one of the employees there. She said that the ranch was sold by its original owners decades ago to CBS/Lorimar, and that the head of Lorimar who passed away bequeathed it to his daughter and family, and they have promised to never sell it. This ranch employee also explained that a developer has been after the ranch so he could build a housing development. As the woman told me, "This ranch is 288 acres and isn't going anywhere. The owner has no intention to sell it and wants to preserve it." I replied, "If Dallas taught us one thing, it's that everyone has their price. If a buyer comes along at the right price, I wouldn't be surprised to see Southfork sold. Let's hope that doesn't happen."
@TT_1221
@TT_1221 Жыл бұрын
@@Umpire25 You might have got some misinformation there. CBS/Lorimar never owned it. As I understand it the original owner sold it in the 90's to a resort company and that company sold it on last year to a developer. The developer I think has said they will keep the ranch house but they will be developing and building on the land around it.
@Umpire25
@Umpire25 Жыл бұрын
@@TT_1221 I had thought that, too, which is why I asked the woman working there. She gave me the explanation I posted above. She did tell me that a developer wanted to build on the land, but again, her comment was that the house sits on 288 acres of land and they're not going to let anyone build on it. I personally hope that's the case.

@@Umpire25 Thanks for the info. I really hope so too. It would be a shame to see the land around it developed. So many of us grew up watching SF ranch every week on TV. Part of our childhood.
@Umpire25
@Umpire25 Жыл бұрын
@@TT_1221 I agree with you and I share your sentiments about the show. Regardless of what the ranch status is, let us both hope that neither the land nor the house is altered by developers. It's kind of strange that for whatever reason, I feel a lot more attached to Dallas than other TV shows I watched religiously during that same time period of late 1970s through early 1990s. Because of that, I wax nostalgic for Dallas more than any of the other shows I watched. I wonder if part of the reason is because Southfork is a real place and helps make the show a bit more authentic, more believable, its being a fictional TV series notwithstanding.
