You take huge risk in travelling in such places, no transport, laugage barrier, food unavailability ..people seems to be awkwardly strange.

Huge risk?! NAH!! The way he looks, majority would feel he's just a local Indian or Arab (others would fail to distinguish)! And the good thing, he knows a word or two of Swahili! So, anything bad that would happened to him would also happened even to local black- like his belongings being snatched especially in those narrower streets! The biggest "risk" when you're a foreigner is overpricing of goods and services... meaning, for instance if Product X is sold at TZS 2000, the seller would tell you it's TZS 5000! And in most cases, the determinant factor will not be your color but your language! If you don't speak Swahili, they will know you're a tourist or at least a foreigner, and therefore they will hit you hard in price whether your black or white; Asian or whatever!
