I like how its not just a horror novel: the book itself fucks with you in how its written.

The physical method of reading this book really drives home the narratives within narratives, the story within a story within a story perspective. It makes you feel like you're the 4th dimension after Johnny T taking your own trip down the rabbit hole of psychosis. I recommend starting this book on a rainy day without. Aim for 8 hours of uninterrupted reading, you won't regret it ;)

Just watched your review, too. Excellent! I've wondered why I would do this to myself -- this seems like something only a crazy person would read. But you managed to make me curious ... hmm, I may have to give it a chance, maybe a bookshop perusal first. Happy New Year!

I know, it's been a while since my brain was in a state to deal (and crave) such a book. It is an understaking. Happy New Year to you too!

this has elevated my curiosity about this book and at the same time irreparably intimidated me. it seems like this would be such a massive commitment, but hey, ive read It by Stephen King, one of the most complex stories i have ever experienced, 2 times, so why shouldnt i be able to read this once? im also in the mood to be terrified by a book soon!

I don’t believe I have the full colored addition but I could be wrong because it’s buried on my book shelves somewhere. I absolutely love the format of the book but I’m so intimidated by it so I’ve had it for a good 15 years and still haven’t read it. 🙄😂📚

I can fully understand. It has its ups and downs and you must be in the mood for the weirdness of the writing and stretches of boring analysis. Still worth it.

it's KZbin being annoying. I uploaded this video in 2013 as unlisted and discovered today by accident that it was still unlisted. But since annotations won't work anymore I just set it to public, without knowing KZbin would push it out to my subscribers. This is a companion video to my review of House of Leaves which I read in 2013. Sorry for the confusion.
