39:45 Sir book stuck wala explanation thoda galat ho gaya. The surface area in contact is not directly proportional to friction hota hai. Yaha pages ek dusre ke upar rest kart hai to thodi tilt ho jati hai and tension in pages ke do components ho jate hai jisme ki vertical component extra normal force provide karta hai and friction is directly proportional to normal force isiliye frictional froce increase ho jata hai. To simply demonstrate ki friction area ke directly proportional nahi hota ek hi brick ko ek spring balane se band har alaga alag orientation me rakh kar horizontally pull karke dekhiye same reading aayegi spring balance me. Sun ke and soch ke ye logical to lagta hai ki friction area ke proportional hoga but aisa hai nahi nature of area in contact ke hota hai. Reference NCERT class 11, chapter 5, section 5.9.1, start reading 3 lines above expression 5.13 for static fraction and 5 lines above 5.15 for kinetic friction. Hopefully aap correction kar lenge and baki students ko sahi science seekhne milegi and reference isliye dalna pad rha hai ki mujhe gali na pade 😅

@PPPJEE Thanks for being open to ideas, but lately suggesting changes or corrections to anyone is perceived as attacking them by their blind supporters. Anyways, it is always good to meet rational thinkers like yourselves. Anyways, coming to your suggestion, the experiment that I mentioned above was suggested to me in class 8 also; it seems you have not gone through the whole comment, as I have already mentioned the reference of NCERT class 11th only. I wouldn't blame you either, as your username with JEE suggests you have been preparing for JEE recently, and I suppose you have been taught to focus on solving numerical mostly that's why you may have missed that part. Also the tension contributing to the increase in normal reaction part may be explained easily if you take into account the tilting of paged after being stacked over each other then it same as suspension bridge where the binding acts as anchorage when pulled, it applies vertically downwards force over other pages as the anchor cables do on the tower and pier of the bridge to stabilizer it.
