This is very interesting. As the lead technician for this project before it was taken over by ParkPlus, I'm very impressed with how things were retrofitted. I was in charge of testing in the factory and was also on this site during construction and installation of the bays, lifts, and robots.

Highly expensive system to install and seems only profitable in luxury high rise developments in Miami, Dubai, Singapore, etc. The costs don’t make sense for public parking in congested cities like NY. I’ve actually used one in midtown Manhattan and the parking rates were outrageous compared to a regular car park. If this was economical, more car park companies would line up to make the investment and automate their garages. The technology however is amazing to see.

This isn't the same thing as those early car garages. Most of rely on hydraulic systems with tracks and rails and those are also all over the United States. This is a fully autonomous system with free moving robots.

For everyone saying the US is late and these are all over the world You don't understand what's going on here. Motorized garages are common all over the world including the US. The difference is these are autonomous free moving robots. There's a big difference. Since the infrastructure is a lot closer to a standard parking garage downtime due to maintenance and repair time will be significantly reduced. Instead of the whole thing shutting down when something breaks you just swap out a robot.

You need a minimum of 2 bays in case the elevator breaks. You gotta hope the Russians or Chinese don't hack your wifi and dump your cars out of the window. Considering the density of parking you get, more and more cities should be requiring any new build public parking to be in this mode and get parked cars off our streets.
