@@ms.l8927 That' right. We kept the kind ans smart hens for pets. They gave us very good entertainment. In the fall they went out to the garden and eating the grapes what fell down. The grapes were already half fermented and had alcohol in them. The hens got drunk and were partying in the front yard until 9:30 in the evening. Usually they went sleeping just before the sun went down. That was in September at around 6:30 - 7 pm.

@@t.lledsmar6052 in no way is it cheaper for me to raise birds than in a factory. Between initial equipment cost, feed cost, predator loss, processing equipment etc the average backyard bird costs the person rasing it $20-$27+. Until you get to the point where you're buying feed by the ton for a sizable discount and able to outsource the processing, and even than you're looking at 4-7x the cost to raise up a meat bird on pasture.
@t.lledsmar6052
@t.lledsmar6052 2 жыл бұрын
@@nickf8028 you absolutely can do it cheaper, although "on pasture" opens you up to a lot greater chances for loss. By small though you would have to be at about 20 birds and tightly controlled parameters. As soon as you add a second feeder, second waterer, additional space, additional bedding, you go over. The key I keeping equipment and maintenance costs down while keeping the birds healthy and safe. That Is all much easier on a micro scale. That said, I was commenting to someone apparently talking about eggs. And while a bit more complicated, I can get egg costs pretty low 😉

If this video bothers you as much as it did me at first, the following points might make you feel better 1) The chickens would never have existed in the first place if it weren't for the humans in control of their lives 2) The chickens are not smart enough to know what they're in for. They live a fairly carefree short life oblivious of their fate, so it's not like they're suffering from any kind of mental crisis 3) The way they're killed, by having their neck cut and bleeding to death, is (I think) one of the most humane ways possible, I think it's minimal suffering before they lose consciousness

Have you heard of “Pasture Raised Eggs” before? In that case if you think their not suffering any kind of crisis my doing this, then you’ve probably not. Pasture raised eggs are cleaner than the regular type of egg. Chickens should be released into the grass inside a large space to have fun instead of leaving them inside a jail. Happy eggs produced from space, sad eggs are produced from chicken jail cells.

And for us in the Czech Republik also very interesting to see that the chickens are born and raised in England and then transported in a Czech truck to the factory Vodnanska Kure ( meaning Chicken from Vodnany ) in Czech Republic to be processed. This is one of the many companies owned by our ex-Prime Minister Andrej Babis, who was already a billionaire before he got into parliament... A controversial figure that is said to have directed many more millions of Euro's worth of EU-subsidies and grants via-via to his own companies. Ah well, nothing new so far.

Actually if you all would just use the methods I use with my two esa chickens on a larger scale you wouldn't have that ammonia issue, the calcium bacterium issue, or the salmonella Heidelberg issue. And I could actually go back to work as a CDL driver.

I think it's highly unfair that it basically has cost me Izzy my severely cross beaked Americana, and Sophia my sultan the income it would take to have an actual home as opposed to living in a small sports utility vehicle just because your industry has created biohazards that kill the elderly, small children and the immunocompromised. Why should I have to pay 142.00 at every state boarder crossing when other CDL drivers can just take their yappy dog to the vet once a year. My birds have not made anyone sick and I actually clean up after them. Your industry should pay for animal cruelty, and unlawful public endangerment, and for all my vet bills so I can work.

When I was a kid 60 years ago in New Zealand my mum if we were lucky ,and I have no idea what that entailed , would cook roast chicken every Saturday night . 1 chicken among 6 of us , luxury ! It was expensive apparently and Lamb and mutton was cheap as chips , some even considered it dog food . Today chicken is ridiculously cheap and hugely abundant and Lamb and sheep meat is very expensive ,a whole leg roast virtually unaffordable a complete and utter turn around !

You cannot feed the world with cutesy farms, it requires intensive farming. Also to produce a farm such as this one costs many millions of dollars. Most disease outbreaks happen with small farms or back yarders because they do not have regulations and government laws to abide by or very little. The large companies are checked regularly and have inspectors to ensure laws are followed, plus they have invested heavily and need to get ROI its in the farmers best interest to look after their animals whilst in their care.

yeah so clean, dont worry about the chickens being hanged from their legs while still alive, dont worry about the chickens with broken bones (bird bones are very fragile and the machine that collects them probably breaks more than one bone in their body) stop lying to yourself, killing an animal is never a humane act.
