Some humans are more superhuman than the rest of us. I have Pantone color chip books for Coated and Uncoated inks and I depend on them for accuracy. It's nice to see that ultimately it is the human eye that is most discerning.

Its not about superhuman if one know the basic anatomy ,tonning of the ink he can do differentiate between the smaller change in color . As normal person will not think of that too close difference.

@@shujauddinsabri3918 Subtleties in art are the province of those with a special gift or with special training. Artists and designers (the good ones) live in a world distinctly different from the one most people know (or don't know, as the case may be).

It's possible to create pantone ink from inkjet type ink? For a plotter for example or a photo printer

I'm also interested in the name of the song. It sounds like a "Pearl of Tranquillity" track...

Am I the only one who saw this and thought of the emperor's new clothes? If the only ones that can see the color difference are a very small minority, is there really a color difference?

+James Wood It's a fun question to ask, but the serious answer is that we know they're really different when we have color sensors that can detect a difference and when multiple people take the tests multiple times and the results are consistent. SCIENCE!!!
@jameswood58329 жыл бұрын
+Nathan McDaniel Sensors can't see color, they can only detect wavelengths of light. Color only exists after it is perceived by an eye. That is why ultra violet and infrared light aren't generally considered colors. If someone was born with an abnormal gene that let them see ultra violet light as a color, we wouldn't start calling it a color all of a sudden.

In fact it's not really true that there is a very small amount of people the can see differences between colors, it's more of an "eye-training" issue. I work as a lab technician for a company that makes suede for automotive application. We check the material instrumentally, but then we need to relate on our eyes and look at it under a specific wavelenght source of light, as the lady of Pantone does. And I can tell that with experience and doing that on daily basis, you can really see the differences in the colors.

To me, these folks are similar to sommeliers (wine experts) who can identify the smallest differences in taste and quality that most people couldn't detect. Having a highly refined palette isn't of use to most people, but it does count in several areas of life.
