The last time I visited the Queens house my wife and I took her younger brother as he was doing a project for school. He is now in his forties and I am a lot slower! Will have to make sure we get back again,had forgotten how beautiful that staircase is. Thanks for another great vid. Keep safe. C.

Thank you Rob. This was splendid. As a Londoner by birth, I am ashamed to say that I have never visited The Queen's House or The Banqueting Hall, both by the genius Inigo Jones. The tulip staircase is quite spectacular, as are the ceilings. I had to chuckle at the similarity between the Queen's House and a motorway service stop.

Brilliant video, Rob. We had a bit of a spooky experience there once. We used to go Greenwich park and often we'd visit the Queen's Horse. One dark winter afternoon, many years ago, as we walked the colonnade, we felt a very strange atmosphere. Few people were around but a woman approached us and out of the blue, asked if my husband was in the military. He said no, and she then said she said moments before, she observed him walking in front of her in full military uniform! Then she just disappeared!

It wasn't very busy the day I went, so I was lucky to get great views of the Hall and the Tulip Stairs as well. I've passed it on a boat but stupidly never visited and now never will. So the tour was great chance to see the artistic and architectural brilliance of Inigo Jones and in a past live was lucky to dine in his other wonderful building, the Banqueting Hall. What a beautiful house. Those stairs are stunning but made me feel dizzy because of the height. I felt sorry for the cleaner doing the floor in the great hall. Really showed how early you were. I think the early light made the house more beautiful. The work that went into it is amazing. However good a friend I would never have given the ceiling panels to someone else. The work on the grand hall floor is stunning. It was clever how the house was built around the road. The artwork on the ceiling that was left is something else. I can never get over how someone paints that at that height and so perfectly. I am glad you are getting the respect of other people to let you see places with more detail than the general public. As always very interesting video. Looking forward to the next one 😀.

Rob Thank you very much for another superlative video excellent research and included some other views about London. Sir Christopher Wren must have taken inspiration from the Tulip stair case for in the right hand tower of St Paul's Cathedral there is a very similar set of stairs know as the Deans stair case ( you see these on an official guided tour )

Another top video Rob, I use to take my girls here a lot when they were younger as money was tight and there was plenty of free stuff to do and see, as for the ghost pics I would say 100% genuine as we took some pics at beaulieu many years ago and had the same experience with strangers dressed in old clothing and hats and we were the only ones in the room, many thanks again.

Never even heard of the Queen's House before (though I do know the Armada Portrait), so this was a fascinating eye-opener. As for the 'ghost photo', I smell a rat: it's suspicious that the so-called ghosts appear to be in the centre of of the picture, almost as though they were the intended subject of the photograph! And if you'd wanted to take a picture of the staircase, there are far better angles and locations that would capture its scale far better than the one in which the 'ghosts' appear. It seems far too staged to be taken seriously. Of course some people - including Conan Doyle - were taken in the by the so-called Cottingley Fairies, and those images had been cut from a packet of washing powder, as I recall. Great stuff, Rob - these videos absolutely make my Sunday evenings!

Hello Rob Another excellent video. Have been to the Queen's house a couple of times. Greenwich has so much to offer. There is a famous picture of Henry VIII when he was young there is well. I have also taken a picture with a ghost in it which I took at Rose manor in Jamaica in 1988. They did say they had ghost. We did not get to Greenwich this last trip. Thanks for showing us. How wonderful - thank you, Rob! As much as it would be good to still have the old palace of the Tudors still around, I must say that the stunning symmetry in white of all the buildings, now extant, are a beautiful wonder. It would be nice to see the old great hall paintings put back in their rightful place, along with original paint on surrounding beams, but the building's present lack of decor does have an appeal in its own right. A road through a royal house, or any house... my goodness! The Tulip Staircase! I first knew about it, not realising where it was really located, in 1973 when I read Peter Underwood's book, "Haunted London". I still have that very much re-read & tattered paperback in my library, now, and it started a lifetime of enjoying a good ghost story! I have never seen a ghost, myself, though! Sadly, we never did visit the Queen's House, nor Greenwich, whenever we went to London. Must try next time. I honestly need to live in the UK for months & months to see all the fantastic sites it offers, some very obscure and unfrequented by the masses. Looking forward to your next presentation!
