I stayed at the hotel in 2009 when there were only about 8 rooms and it was only $200 USD per night. My, how things have changed! I'm so glad I got to experience it back then. I had the entire "hotel guest only" lagoon to myself for the 48 hours I was there. The only complimentary food was some cereal and yogurt in the morning and then I bought hot dogs and crisps for lunch :-)

Probably the best few days I’ve ever spent in a hotel. The water is so warm, there is always a little alcove you can find that is quiet. But yeah it is so expensive. A once in a 7 lifetime experience for a regular guy like me.

Thanks for your comment - glad it was helpful. Let us know how it goes... hope you like it as much as I did.

I remember when this place was barely developed and there was just a smallish building for entrance fee and changing. Was basically just a local swimming pool for the most part without a hotel/spa. Probably a lot cheaper back then in comparison.

Loved the hedge fund manager comment! Nice video. We will be there the end of May in a Lagoon Jr Suite so this is good information for us....looking forward to it!

I've been lucky enough to stay here twice: in August 2020 and April 2022. I noticed that between my first and second visit, earthquakes in the area necessitated the installation of small walls in the lagoon that weren't originally there. You could previously sit and perch right on the lava rock, where there are seats under the water. I did wonder during my first visit about the risk of rocks falling-looks like the hotel had the same thoughts. Regardless, it's an excellent property. It's a shame the price keeps going up and up and up. I could justify the previous price point of c. £900-£1100/n for a treat every now and then, but at the £1,500+ per night it's currently at, I'd rather go stay in an Aman resort in the shoulder seasons and get three nights for the same price instead. Still, a spectacular hotel. Nothing else like it.

Wow - thanks for the update. It's really helpful to community when folks like you post your experiences. I' w you re $1500 - that's too much (of course some Aman resorts these days are charing $4k a night for a standard room). The Silica next door is much more reasonably priced and maybe 80% as good for 1/3 the price. Anyway - feedback is most appreciated!

@@SwankGuide Yes, that's true... Amanzoe for example! But lots of reasonably priced Amans across Asia, including the beautiful Amankila (which I saw a quick clip of in your video!)

I want to send my wife and her friends on spa trip. Vegas or Iceland???
Love your user name - I wont ness w your waffles. Lava view Jr Suite on ground floor which I'd recommend over the Moss Jr Suite on 2nd floor. I think it's nice to be right next to the water (even though the water off your room is not warm). Have fun

Really thought Deplar Farm would've been the most expensive hotel in Iceland.

I considered Deplar but for the price... the decor has to be impecable... and I don't think it is. Thanks for watching

I think I would prefer an Iceland honeymoon over the Maldives 🤫
