Inside The Skeleton Key house known as Felicity Plantation

Hello everyone...Here I bring you another filming location and this time located in Vacherie, Lousiana. The house was used mostly for exterior and the backyard, but according to the tour I took, they also shot some scenes inside. The plantation as you may know holds a lot of history as well as it has been used in many films and tv shows. One of my favorite movies is Skeleton Key so I had to see in person. The first time I went to tour the other plantation that’s also on property and the owner let me see this house just from the outside since back then they didn’t allow tours. Wow! I just came back from this plantation today. Same stuff is there! Attic is still locked too. That same lady gave me a tour. It was only me there and was surprised that they let us touch anything! I was even able to walk across the field into the slave quarters in the dark and found old alcohol bottles and some original furniture. So cool!

We took a quick trip from Vegas to NOLA this week and rewatched your Skeleton Key video so we could find the Felicity Plantation.

The other plantation with all the oak trees is called Oak Alley Plantation It is also in Louisiana

Oak Alley Plantation is just down the road from St. Joseph and Felicity plantation

The "boardwalk" is called a wharf or a pier

Actually it’s not. I’ve been to Oak Alley Plantation and it doesn’t match at all. I did find the correct plantation for that scene but it’s not open to the public

This is one of my fave movies and I just happened to watch it last weekend because it's in the KZbin movie tab free with no ads. I went to New Orleans in 1993 before the movie and I'll definitely go back one day and try to see the house. Thank you so much for this great video...👍!

I took this tour a couple years ago but they didn't let us take pictures or film. I also wondered about the stairs not being there when you walk in and my tour guide (a guy) said that most of the interiors of the movie The Skeleton Key were not actually filmed inside Felicity, but at the plantation house next to it, and mostly just the exteriors were filmed at Felicity.

Or really no pictures or video? They didn’t care at all both times. I did the tour for the other plantation last time which I have a video of it if you want to see it and it definitely didn’t film there. They didn’t use St. Joseph for Skeleton Key at all. I personally think the interiors for the most part was in a studio in Los Angeles. I remember the last time I was there the owner telling me that Kate Hudson was pregnant and at some point that had to finish filming back in Los Angeles.

Yes I pointed that out in the beginning of the video. I just love The Skeleton Key and wanted to see this house inside as well. At first when I went they didn’t provide tours to this house only the other one they owned which I made a video as well
