Nice taking the solo apart. I know a lot of people that went to school on ABB at Filmore East. (A mild suggestion? Perhaps you can point out which scale degrees are at play rather than just string/fret nubmers? That was the missing link for me for years... far too many years. I finally began to understand solos, what works, and how to re-use ideas in other songs once I started to pay attention to things like the b3 and 3, the 7th, bending to the 1, etc. Now it drives me crazy when people talk about strings and frets only and not what's happening musically(!).)

I think Dicky (and the Allmans in general) are more characterized by major pentatonics. More like westcoast country influenced rock than classic melancholy minor blues penta.
