Excellent video as always! HOWEVER there is Something SUPER IMPORTANT that I need to mention to you: In Japan it is considered impolite & disrespectful to point to objects, prices and people with any single finger (i.e. index). Instead you need to point using the whole hand! I noticed that you were using your index finger to point at stuff throughout the video which is a big no no. Hopefully this tip would be useful for your future Japan trips :)

Thank you Chris for another great video! I’ve never been to Narita’s terminal 1. This is very helpful. I usually go thru T2 flying JAL. T1 looks big and is impressive! Good to know there are so many cool stores. Thank you, and look forward to your next video.

Hi Chris. Wonderful walking tour of Terminal !. Never been to this terminal. I fly out of Terminal 2 with Japan Airlines and that is a wonderful terminal as well. It also has a nice observation deck to view the planes. Tokyo Banana is a must for me. I just love them. Next time I need to check out terminal Thanks for sharing and take care.

Flew in to Narita my last trip and left from Haneda; their border crossing is ridiculously fast, but Haneda is my favorite of the two, due to its proximity to Tokyo. Excellent food court and shops, and so close to Tokyo you can just spend more of your time there before heading to the airport! Flying in and out of Haneda for my next trip. Obviously, whatever is cheaper is better and sometimes Narita is better especially if you stay in say Akihabara or Ueno it can be closer.

Thank you! Going in December and a little intimidated because Narita is so far from Tokyo.

It’s not that hard honestly. Once you arrive and get out of customs you’ll basically be left out the entrance, go down stairs for the trains and take the narita express for about $14 and it’ll take you to Tokyo. If you got the jr pass it’ll also be down stairs and a jr office once you go there you can ask the worker if they can book the ticket for you. It’s about 1:30 -1:50 hour train ride
@diningwithderek3 ай бұрын
It's actually not too difficult. The easiest way is to take the Narita Express which is a limited express train that leaves directly out of the airport. The hardest part is finding the station since once you exit customs, it is a bit of a walk to the station. You can buy your tickets at the ticket office there and there are agents who will help you. You will also need to pick up your JR pass there if you got it, personally I recommend against getting the JR pass since it is way overpriced. Once you hop on the train it is a 1 hour ride to Tokyo Station.

That 7-11 was so far from our gate, and the line was long too. We found a pair of vending machines that sold popular drinks/snacks not too far away. Not many people were using them, so thats where we used the last of our coins (in Yen) before our flight took off.

Thanks Chris. I'm flying into Termin 1Narita at 9pm in 2 weeks! First time Japan. Do you know if there are any food shops in Terminal 1 still open by the time I get through customs? I know I'll be starving, and there is no food at nite in the Toyoko hotel I'll be staying at. Thks in advance

Hi Manu -- most restaurants at Narita close up at 9pm. There's a Lawson Station convienence store open til 10pm in T1

You may have noticed that some light sources were flickering in this video. West of Japan (i.e. Osaka, Kyoto) uses 60Hz similar to USA while east (i.e. Tokyo) uses 50Hz. To make matters more confusing, some lower voltage light sources (i.e. LED) use different frequencies than what is fed to them in Japan (i.e. 60Hz LED fed with Tokyo's 50Hz) which results in a mishmash of different frequencies. Since recording at 50fps and 60fps leaves flickering one way or another, one needs to record at minimum 300fps to avoid any flickering while in Japan! :( The implications: 1) If a device has a multi voltage, multi frequency adapter, you can buy it anywhere in Japan and bring to your country. 2) If you are from North America, you need to buy electrical equipment made for west of Japan & make sure it supports NA's slightly higher voltage. 3) If you are from Europe, you simply cannot buy full voltage electrical equipment from anywhere in Japan, as Europe's 220V-240V would be too high for devices made for Japan's 100V regardless of frequency.
