My last duty station before retirement. I was with the Air Force Element in NATO. Spent three years there. I was the NCOIC of the communications center. Coached little league baseball, and coached and played softball. We won several championships over the Navy and Army teams. One year we won the small unit’s championship but beating Turkey, Spai, and other Italian based Air Force teams. That was one of best fields we played at.

I love this video! I used to go here as a kid quite often in 1968 & 1969 shortly after Carney Park was opened. A lot has changed in 44 years! The Drive-In is gone, and there are quite a few more buildings but still, a great drive! I liked it so much I hooked the computer up to the big screen TV to get the 'Almost As Good As There' feel! :) THANKS!

Used to be there seems like every day from 68 thru 73. What a fabulous place to be during one's childhood. Ken used to play ball with you many years ago. Man did you have a wicked curve ball. It fooled me many at bats.

Ken this is classic! Oscar Nomination. Great job in. putting this together. So-so many memories. the best babysitter in the whole world. I remember getting dropped off in the morning and picked up after the drive-in movie at 9:30 - 10:00pm, then do it again the next day throughout the whole summer.......

Played a lot of baseball and soccer games when I was a kid at Carney Park when we lived on the Support Site in 2001-2005 (8-12 years old). When my dad had softball tournaments me and my friends would adventure Carney Park. We enjoyed swimming and the 4th of July when all the carnival rides showed up. Carney Park was awesome!

Very Cool : I was a 9 to12 year old Navy brat from 69 to 72 living in Naples Italy. We used to go to Carney park nearly every weekend & watch American Football games. I went to Summer Camp here one year that was focused on Baseball but also involved hiking in the mountains. Great Memories. I also remember living in the Hotel Americana while our apartments were being built for about 6 months.

Spent many a weekend there as a navy brat in the early 70's. Dad worked at NSA & the NATO BASE. We lived in Pineta Mare a good piece down the road off D-39. I remember seeing Humpty Dumpty on the way to school. I recently saw some photos and it appears that big swaths of trees are missing and was told that fire was the reason. Great memories of those times. I probably wouldn't even recognize it from how much it changed.

I was there 1976-1982. It is also great to use google maps/streets to "visit" the places I used to live at Lago Lucrino or 2 km past Pintamare.

Don't know if anyone is still checking on these comments, but wanted to add our memories also. Was stationed at HQAFSOUTH 1981-1984. Used up a LOT of gas coupons making that trip from Pinetamare (lived in Tower 2), and my kids still talk about that being the best Army assignment we ever had.

I was there at the same time. Second Army assignment 84 to 87. Lived about 5 minutes from the base in Bagnoli. Loved every minute of it.

NH 84-88. A group of Corpsmen and Nurses climbed the mountain to get a blessing from the "Mad Monk". Easy going down. We slid most of the way
