Now this is an EV people will love, got the right number of doors, good looking, great range and the right price. If this comes to the UK they'll probably stick an extra 10k on the price, still even at that price better than a Tesla.

This would go great guns in the UK I reckon. Hopefully one day it gets there.

@@InsideChinaAuto I'm not a fan of the electronic parking brake but for this car I would put up with it. This is what VW and Tesla should be making. I think this is better looking and more sports like than the mustang mach e which has too many door, costs too much and doesn't look right. It's like they've listened to the people and designed the car the public wants rather than trying to force people to buy what they want. If this comes to the UK and stays as is with only the wheel being changed over I would buy it with a smile. It would sell out instantly, even if they asked 30 grand for it here.
@ianplummer Жыл бұрын
I doubt it will ever hit the UK, they would need very high LHD sales to even remotely consider making a RHD version. There are so many very good cheap Chinese EV's at the moment, but less than 5% will make it to the UK imo. 10/15 years time that may well be a different story. But atm no chance.
@dave4803 Жыл бұрын
@@ianplummer But no two door coupes, all cheap looking five door China imports or over priced euro five doors. This is probably the first EV that is fun to drive, has a decent range, not slapped together like a tesla, not over priced and is good looking too. Just the potential sales in Australia and maybe even Japan would warrant making a RHD. The African market is RHD too, a cheap, well designed EV would go over well there. This is probably the first EV that was designed with drivers in mind. They could stick another 5 to 10 grand on the price and it will still sell with RHD.
@pzykezutube1165 Жыл бұрын
“If” and that’s a pretty big IF, it ever makes it to the UK. The dealer will add £10k but the killer will be the Import duty and levy that the UK will add on, the last cheap Chinese car I saw that actually made it to the UK was £13k in China but £27k here and that was due to a levy designed to protect the (non existent) UK electric car industry.

This is the first EV that looks like a car designed by an adult rather than an 8 year old. It looks fantastic, and I’m not an aesthete, but, even I can see the design elements and cues, like the sweeping curve of the roof-line and the raised haunches. The interior looks great too, especially for a sub-£20k car. I think you’re charging on 3 phase electricity to charge that rapidly. 3 phase electricity is rare domestically in UK homes, but is the standard for UK commerce. It thus means that UK drivers are limited to 4kW and 7kW chargers. The 4kW would take around 20 hours to charge this car, and the 7kW around 10-12hours. The lack of 3 phase domestic electricity is what is hampering EVs (amongst many other things) in the UK. Lastly, why does this part of China look empty?
@InsideChinaAuto Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comprehensive comment. This is a pretty car, though not perfect, but at least it's a sports car. I don't have a home charger here though my compound has them, so I charge outside. It's cheap enough and they're readily available. Not much clue on phases and things though. This particular location is a tiny little village that's not yet fully opened so it's good for video without disturbances, but that's why it's empty. Nobody lives here properly yet. Plus I do get up very early for driving shots just because it makes my life a lot easier.
@pgVeritas Жыл бұрын
@@InsideChinaAuto Look at that! A country that builds infrastructure before it’s needed. As for 3 phase electricity, all it means is that there are effectively 3 separate power supplies working in unison to avoid overloads. Single phase is common in the UK because we’re antiquated and didn’t invest in infrastructure after the war. 3 phases is across a lot of Europe, probably due to the extensive bombing by the allies and the need to rebuild. Anyway, single phase is enough for all domestic uses except charging EVs (quickly). 3 phase supplies will be needed because banning gas boilers in new builds and the move to PV panels and Heat Pumps. Single phase cannot cope with charging EVs, a heat pump and solar panels. If you have 3 phase supply in the UK it costs around £8k to install dependent on how far you are from a 3 phase supply. Villages are problematic, but living in a town means you can access it more easily because all commercial premises are 3 phase. A 22kW charger is available in the UK if you have 3 phase supply. BTW, what do you do out there? I’ve looked at jobs in Unis out there and I quite like the idea of moving, except for the complex language!
@InsideChinaAuto Жыл бұрын
@albertol1529 Thanks for the explanation. You're right about China investing in infrastructure in advance, they do that a lot. Didn't realise we'd fallen so far behind back in the UK. Out here I'm mostly on this, communications, and content. It's not as easy to find roles out here as maybe it was ten years ago but universities are still happy for the right people. Many foreigners get by without much of the language or little, but it's not difficult to get some basics and you might even enjoy doing a bit more than that. Ive Just drove the Press car at the Neta shop, because I was consider buying it for all the problem or the design , but the price for this Performance is just too seductive , Specially forthe 3.7 sec 0-100km, its smooth and breathtaking fast! Battery has Lifetime warranty ,No need to worry about future of dead battery . After all if its not an Cheap EV for grocery, or Full size boring SUV, this is the only choice on Chinese market now for something uniqe yet not expensive , really hope other wolrd would feel this turly Bang for the Buck sports EV!

@@InsideChinaAuto Well, im not trying to sell you the car, But the experinece was just soo good , NetaGT is a direct drive unit , no gear, so the all acceleration is just smooth yet so savage ! the at the sports mode the steering assint will be weaker and more sensitive . and the only phsical buttom on the consel is the crystal Lauch buttom . I counldnt breath under the lauch coutrol , the car has wind drag coefficient of 0.21 cd(official said) , I dont know how they make it so low, but during the speed, wind noise isnt that loud since EV are too quite. and I asked the Neta sales the seat material are made from vegan leather ,

My question is, how can the Chinese make such nice looking cars for that low of a price? And why aren’t they selling them over here yet, as it basically doesn’t have any competition?
@InsideChinaAuto Жыл бұрын
There's a few reasons, one being that they trust 3D modeling more, two being that the supply chain is on their doorstep so things are quicker and much cheaper to develop, then there's high levels of automation in the factories. As for selling abroad, setting up dealer networks takes time, plus they need to develop a reputation. Currently Neta are in a few places like the Middle East and Jordan, I think Israel and Thailand too. Europe will be on the cards at some point.

Great to see something that isn't an SUV. Quite nicely styled but there are elephants in the room. Would be surprised if this wasn't £40k minimum if it were ever sold in the UK. How long does the battery health last ? This is a major talking point with all EV and no one wants to give an honest answer. Are we expecting to dispose of the car after five years because no one else can afford to install a new battery ? In other words the equivalent of major component failure like an engine on a petrol car. What's the case with parts availability ? MG in the UK are struggling with this apparently. What's the build quality like ? Again MG are struggling. Same with reliability. Just check the UK MG forums. Essentially this is the comparison info that a UK buyer would have based on a Chinese marque ( or in MG's case a Chinese owned marque ). There are others but data and sales ( Byd ) for example are too low at the moment. The width for UK buyers would also be a problem but that's the same for a lot of EV and petrol cars these days anyway
@InsideChinaAuto Жыл бұрын
Price wise, yeah, no doubt more expensive, but still cheaper than the Cyberster which I believe will start at £59k. As for the batteries, they should have a lifetime guarantee but at least 8 years they should maintain the bulk of their storage capacity. This car is brand new so no real indication of long-term just yet. Parts is really an industry wide issue, supply chains somehow still haven't fully recovered so even innocuous parts are grounding all kinds of vehicles at the moment. I'll have to trust you on the MG stuff. I have a family member with one but no issues yet, though its still within the first year and not electric (if that's where the parts issue is, I don't know).

How will Legacy European Marques compete? They can only rely on their racing heritage and history for a very limited time. An electric motor and battery have no brand value. Seeing this first attempt at an EV coupe, it a clear, the future belongs to affordable Chinese EVs.
@InsideChinaAuto Жыл бұрын
Brand strength still holds some sway but the big issue for the legacy OEMs, at least in China, is that premium is fairly easily replicated. The finer details they think people care about are not nearly as important to customers who want a good looking car, good price, lots of features. Even the driving part is not so important because these people know they're going to spend most of the time in traffic so they don't need a racing car, they need something comfortable. That's the part the Europeans struggle to let go of.
