One of the victims killed in a horrific limousine crash in upstate New York on Saturday allegedly texted her cousin to say the vehicle was in "terrible condition" prior to the accident that killed 20 people. Valerie Abeling, the aunt of Erin McGowan, who died along with her new husband, Shane McGowan, said Erin sent her daughter a message complaining about the state of the car just 20 minutes before the crash. “The vehicle appeared in terrible condition,” Abeling told The Washington Post. #InsideEdition

Driver drove through a T intersection. Approximately going 45/50 mph Maybe more, we’ll never know. Hits the curb. Everyone in the limo wasnt buckled in. I mean, who is, in a limo, partying. When car hit whatever it hit, they all flew forward probably breaking their necks and being crushed. Happened too quick for them to even comprehend til their necks hit first flying without there hands embracing it. So overall, as a paramedic.. you should feel privileged you can’t comprehend these things really. It sucks. I envy you.

It was likely 20 a person. I've rented limos for parties before. I did turn down 1 time tho because it wasn't the bus I wanted. If we didn't have a cool area to camp at within walking distance to bars we likely wouldn't of canceled it. Its hard when you have 20 people at your house to be like nvm. But I never had a weird feeling about any of the at least 5 times I've rented one myself.

Always follow your instinct and gut feeling one time I was at work with my little brother me and a bunch of co workers were gonna go get lunch together my car was blocked in by other cars in the parking lot and my coworkers wanted me and my little brother to get in their car which woulda been overpacked by one person and I got this weird feeling that told me to just take my car so I did and as we go to leave the driver of the car I was gonna go in pulls out and in the left to his blind spot a truck came in and t-boned the back of the car and killed the lady In the back and gave the other passenger in the back small brain damage and cracked his skull before the lady passed I held her hand and told her everything was gonna be ok she passed in my hands crying she didn’t wanna go she was a mother of 5 with the kindest heart ever it’s been two years and till this day I still tear up remembering it please life is to short to hate show everyone love and help everyone grow ❤️god was looking after me and my brother and my decision to listen trust your instincts

I was in the Army and was in several combat engagements and saw hundreds of people die, including a helicopter crash that killed 6 men when the pilot collapsed from heat exhaustion. Even though I have PTSD from those events, after having seen so much death, the news of people dying doesn't affect me like it does most other people because I'm just used to it. The deaths of those brave soldiers seriously affected me at the time, but over the years of seeing more and more of it, I became insensitive to death for the most part. However, news this tragic event TRULY AFFECTED ME! 20 people dead in a limo accident!? That's unfathomable and a total disaster! What was wrong with that limo and the driver? Why was the limo in such poor mechanical condition? Why was the driver speeding? Was he drunk? The only limo that should ever speed is a Presidential limo escaping from an assassination attempt. I can't even fathom the feelings of those who knew these individuals. Their broken hearts would be too much to handle. I know this happened a few years ago, but damn, I'm sure they still feel the lasting effects of it today. The experience I had of seeing over 100 die in battle over the span of of my career is bad. But the loss of these innocent 20 lovely individuals far outweighs the loss and grief that is usually reserved for soldiers on the front lines. This was a massacre that should have never happened, and I hope restitution is brought to the families and friends of those involved. I will pray for all of them. God bless them all.

So no one was wearing seat belts, the limo was going down a hill at 100+ mph because its breaks were out, and the front turned to metal shrapnel/spikes that everyone inside slid into when it stopped. As for the pedestrians, half of people die from a car hitting them at 40. The limo was going twice that and weighed 10000 pounds, like 3 cars in total.

A totally unethical limo company that never performed maintenance and only thought about making money, a foolish driver, total equipment failure, coming to a dead stop at 60mph.impact and being crushed by tons of weight smashed in on top of the 18 passengers which was 10x's worse that any ordinary auto accident. What's so hard to understand? The car should have never been on the road. Operators like that make me sick. I doubt the stretch was even commercially insured.
