I think its really interesting to see the evolution of not only the consoles nintendo has released but how they seem to take the bits of each one, from the Wii to now, and funnled them into the switch, now hopefully its a situation of, smoothing out the rougher parts rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

For the most part Nintendo's exclusives are first party, but there are a few second and even third party. Ultimate Alliance 3 is one higher profile title that comes to mind.

nah it'll be fine! You just download an app to your phone, the Switch 2 will then create a new WIFI network with a password that changes every 30 seconds and you have to connect your phone and your original Switch to it and then you get to select everything you'd like to copy over one by one :)

Doing a system transfer was extremely easy on the 3DS. I imagine it'll be the same for the switch 2

@@Cream_Sleaze they arent doing it cause their they good guys, they are far from the good guys... they making sure there is so many numbers of tablets/hybrids to be sold it will deter scalpers and prevent the system going through a supply and demand issue, as Nintendo knows the money isnt just in their system but majority of it in their software sales... especially their first party IP's that never see a price cut despite how hold it is. they learnt this through sony when the ps5 released which damaged them profoundly.

It is pretty obvious this is coming out right about the same time the switch came out. Japan fiscal year rolls over April 1st. So they will release it in late feb or early march so that they get huge sales for this year, and they split some sales into next fiscal year.

@ Good points. I’m still thinking no later than April for release. February is probably too early. I just think that they are not announcing it because they don’t want to cannibalize the switch/OLED holiday sales. They didn’t really have to worry about with the Wii U as it was barely selling units by the time switch was announced. They could announce it one week in advance and it would probably still sell out based on the success of the first and how many bought multiple units. I don’t put anything past Nintendo at this point. They mostly march to their own beat.

For the love of all that is holy, out of all the rumors, please let the Hall Effect Joysticks one be true! I have a controller with Hall Effect Joysticks, and it is so nice! Zero stick drift, and there never will be! It's the future! Mark my words, this will become standard practice in controller manufacturing any year now! Just like how composite AV cables were swapped out for the HDMI cable. Also, what if the release date is March 10th? Mario day!

If a new game or two are coming out around then. I'll be upgrading from my DayOne Switch. It's getting a bit wheezy nowadays... poor thing. My top 3 games I want; If there is any assurance of a new Open World Zelda before launch (a teaser or something) then I'm getting one asap, Pokémon Legends: Z-A. We have seen nothing but a teaser and I am looking forward to those titles more than the "proper" games. Since they are actually changing up the formula in a way that keeps the franchise relevant to adults without it being boring as hell. I have been wanting a Nintendogs reboot since the 3ds dropped off the grid and it's so strange that they haven't tried with the switch. It has a Gyro for looking around the 3D space and you could have a companion app to take your pets on walks and such... or even just a Mobile App on it's own so you can play with the pets in AR.... it makes too much sense for them to have not experimented until now. (And I've seen "Little Friends Dogs + Cats and it sucks).

Well, Nintendo has been pretty good when it comes to backward compatibility for most of their consoles! Switch is just one of the few consoles that doesn't have it, unfortunately. But I can't really blame it since how are you going to fit a disc in a handheld console? Personally, in my opinion, I think the Switch's first-party lineup more than makes up for it not having it. But, the Switch Successor having it for Switch one titles is a really awesome thing to have, nonetheless!

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo releases an upgraded version of the first Switch after releasing the Switch 2, just to have another cheaper option for whoever thinks the Switch 2 is too pricey. Remember that Nintendo said they want multiple people in households to own their own Nintendo Switch. If they do, I'm guessing it'll probably be a Switch Lite in XL form, to save money on the dock and other stuff.

Just going on how I handle my Switch in handheld mode, I do not think magnets alone will be enough to hold the Joy Cons on. Maybe the magnets will be part of the release mechanism or part of a flexible connector to maintain the connection, I don't know. But I don't think the rails alone are a bad design element.

I’m not in the demographic that would upgrade to a switch 2 specifically for a Mario kart or metro. For me I bought the switch for BOTW. Still, I’m excited and will likely pick up a switch 2 when they release the first mid gen refresh (similar to switch OLED)

the large order to prevent scalpers is because playstation 5 lost horrifically in software sales when it released. Nintendo doesnt want that happening to their new system considering the switch 2 will be backwards compatible and we all know ppl sure love to upgrade we learned that from the ps5 pro.

I will absolutely be one of the first buyers of the switch. I have been purposefully putting off Pokemon Scarlet and Violet due to the lack of power the original has. Sad about the lcd screen, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. And I will certainly be buying the enviable Switch 2 OLED whenever they get around to it.

If at launch the Switch 2 can run Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom at a locked 60fps with a decent resolution, it is a Day 1 buy for me personally. I haven't played those games yet due to performance issues on the original Switch. I would love to try them out on some beefier hardware.

Prediction based on the previous 2 generation trsnsitions: at launch the Switch 2 will sell at $299.99 with bundles at $340ish. Switch 1 models will go down to $165 and the Oled model will be $199. The switch lite will either be $99 or discontinued.

I'm somewhat doubtful about them releasing a new Mario Kart just because a HUGE appeal of their frankly pathetic subscription service is the pass for all the mario kart 8 deluxe tracks. If they take that away... they will lose a lot of those subscribers (unless they make it carry over to the new game which would beg the question; why not just port it over instead)

Part of it may be market supply factors too. Nintendo is huge and there are so many devices that source oled from the same suppliers. Nintendo could potentially yoink all the available stock and inflate prices.
