People don't seem to understand that, for 30 years, this man everytime he was in public, put on the persona and kept the character the entire time. The commitment to his craft is insane. He really was the dead man for 3 decades. I'm not surprised he wants to talk as much as possible.

I’m really glad that Taker has decided to open up and share his knowledge with us. I see a lot of “my childhood is ruined” posts and I think that’s really unfair to say about someone who evolved not only his character, but the way he feels about us as adults who watched when we were kids and now feels comfortable enough with us to share personal details of his life and thoughts and feelings.

Your comment just brought back a really great memory of mine. Way back in the day when Big Show was one of the top performers in the WWE during the attitude era, he was temporarily sent down to the minor leagues to work on some weight issues (I think). He was with a promotion called 'Ohio Valley Wrestling' and they would often do shows in very small towns across that region. I remember getting to see Big Show in the main event in a tiny, old, high school gymnasium in a very small town in southern Indiana, and it was one of the most fun wrestling events I've ever been to! He had every right to be phoning it in, but he was a true professional and performed 100% that night. It was amazing. Afterwords, they had a table setup for him to meet the fans and sign autographs and the guy sat there for probably at least an hour chatting with, and signing autographs, for everyone who was there. My respect for him shot up through the roof and he instantly became one of my favorite wrestlers after that.

Honestly it would be flat out stupid for WWE not to open some aspect of their developmental program near Mark. I’m not saying they have to relocate the Performance Center but having a facility in Texas they can send people to work intensively with Taker would pay for itself in terms of their ability to prepare new stars. There genuinely may be nobody better in the world to learn from when it comes to how to make the most of a career.

@@wrestlingwithart yeah, except I have heard him shit on WWE talent if he genuinely doesn't think they are good. Omos hasn't even been around that long. Mark Henry took a long time before he figured it out. I am not saying Omos is good, but if Taker sees something there, and sometimes they aren't always allowed to show all they can do on tv. He spent time tagging with AJ styles and now gets a match with Brock at WrestleMania and I doubt he would get to do so if he wasn't somewhat good. Besides that, I like to have a few giants in wrestling. They don't have to be the best wrestlers as long as they just look....well, gigantic.

It’s funny, he talks about those jitters when he shows up and goes backstage… Wanting to perform. When I went to professional wrestling school, the first thing, my teacher said was that you were going to get into this you’re going to wrestle for a bit, you’re going to get out of it and then you’re going to go back in. It is really addicting. That pop of the crowd is something that only Performers know and there’s just something about it that drives you. Being able to get those emotions out of people. Whether you are a professional wrestler, Comedian, actor or musician… It’s your fans that make you and you are only as good as the last person who paid to see you.

in 1992 I saw my 1st wrestling match on tv (I was 12) and it was of Undertaker, I was genuinely scared of him and always respected him so much for his in-ring performances. Specially the 2 matches with Shawn Michaels in WrestleMania!

i may not watch WWF now WWE as much as i liked to but i always respected Undertaker. so sad when i found out he had to lose in Wrestlemania. if i had my way send that man undefeated but that's me being selfish.

I knew that WWE would have this kind of policy with Taker. The man has worked hard enough and made enough money so that he doesn't need to be on any kind of schedule, but when he goes to WWE, they open any and all doors for him. There is not an aspect of the business he isn't knowledgeable about - from the booking, working the matches, to the video games and marketing, Taker knows this business inside and out.

One of my best memories is from an Undertaker match. The PPV called "Fully Loaded" came here to Dallas in either 1999 or 2000 (sorry, I'm old) and my buddy was working for the local radio station (97.1 KEGL if you're from Dallas). When we got to the arena with our mediocre lower deck tickets, my buddy calls me and tells me to meet him at a certain gate. When I get there, he hands me two floor seat tickets that the station hadn't managed to give away yet and he'd snatched them for me and my other friend. We all set right by the walkout ramp. During 'Taker's match with Kurt Angle, he literally threw Angle right into our row. I went back and watched the show on WWE network and we even got on camera for a split second, which is always nice. And all of this was my first time seeing a live WWE(F) show back then. So much fun.

That was Fully Loaded 2000. Fully Loaded 99 was Undertaker vs Austin First Blood Match for the WWF Title, it was absolutely fantastic. I always go back and watch the promo for that. Cool story too. I can imagine how damn amazing it must feel to be that close to the ring.
