People can say what they want about the Insidious franchise as a whole, but no one can deny that the first two are absolutely SOLID horror films and Patrick Wilson freaking BODIES his possessed role in Insidious 2. Every time he smiled I wanted to punch something out of sheer, intense discomfort.

I saw this in the cinema, and it was fun figuring out how the events of the first film tied into the second film. I really liked that concept because that place 'in the further' is basically like purgatory. Literally everyone there is trying to find their way, find others who are lost, OR trying to find someone to infect. Like Dalton and Josh. So *time* not existing there, makes sense in the story progression. It's like a void... where you have to find your way. That's why Dalton went back in to get his Dad, and used a physical manifestation 'the crafted tin telephone' to return back to their bodies. He learned from his last encounter in 'The Further'. 🤡

Honestly this franchise is so much fun. While the third isn't nearly on the same caliber as the first two (probably since James Wan isn't at the helm), but it's still a really fun horror film with some suuuuper unique scares. The 4th is probably the weakest but it's fine overall, still better than a lot of other 4th entries in other horror franchises

6:02 I think it's called a union jack. 24:50 Insidious 3 is a prequel, and therefore doesn't follow up on this cliffhanger. Just keep that in mind. Still an excellent movie, but only tangentially related to the first two. If you want to see James Wan working outside horror, check out Fast & Furious 7 or Aquaman. He's been branching out lately lol.
