I'm amazed that this video popped up on my KZbin feed. I recently cut ties with a very close friend of 30+ years. Every several years, she has a meltdown of some sort and becomes hostile and mean toward me -- even twisting words I'd said to her in the past and turning them into something entirely different. She has meltdowns with her other friends and, often, with her husband. She mentioned to me on more than one occasion that her mother was mentally ill and wondered if she had inherited it from her. After her last meltdown, I'd had enough. It's become too exhausting to be her friend. And there is always the question of when she'll have another meltdown. I deleted her phone number, address, and email address, and will not contact her again. I don't expect to hear from her again because she doesn’t apologize for her cruel behavior. And that's fine. Our friendship has run its course.

I've watched dozens of these videos and I wonder why they never have any comments. This is very interesting and human content.

I love Ian and uncle John- Ian’s son Ivan was blessed to have an open minded dad and and his “uncle” just lovely. All of the friendships here are worthwhile.

It's noteworthy that honesty is a massive part of the fabric that holds these friendships together. I applaud everyone here. It's my hope that in the case of the man who is sick with cancer that those around him that sometimes it's the seemingly stronger people that need the most support during times of illness because they won't usually verbalise that need themselves. I wish everyone well.

Did Dianna really drop that her parents thought that her young friend was "controlling and bossy" before divulging she was having an affair w HER boyfriend for 12 YEARS!!! 😅

People with low self confidence often do not have many choices of friends, and make poor choices of friends. Being with a bossy friend can make a person resentful, and cheating with the bossy friend’s boyfriend is an underhanded way of getting back at the bossy friend.

There's so much to learn from listening to people being honest about subjective realities. Even if the subject matter is uncomfortable, its quite valuable. Dianna's lack of confidence leading to a friendship which was dishonest on her part from the beginning really made me think about how to better nurture an introverted child so that they can be empowered to make good choices and to stand up for themselves in a way that is comfortable to them. It doesn't sound like Dianna knew how to do that.

Wow ! That was amazing . People showing so much vulnerability in times when we all think we need to be hard as nails . Family is a given (we are not always blessed with the best family ,but that is a completely different topic ) Friendship is a gift . It takes effort and should not be taken for granted .

Ivan is such a kind man - so glad he was able to connect with Samantha. And it's true that those kids have grown up to be most likely reasonable adults. I remember some "outliers" from my high school days who really needed friends and who were mostly likely struggling but many of my peers were unaware since often are are concerned with fitting in themselves. So many of those outliers have grown up to be creative generous and strong people. It's important to let young people know there is a future beyond high school.

There are acquaintances and then there are true, lasting friendships, which are very rare! I can honestly say that I still have 2 long 40+ year friendships that have lasted through the test of time, and that, along with my family, is enough for me!

Some embrace change - others don't like change and so do their best to avoid it. If friends cant talk about issues in their relationship it can stifle growth and change.

31:02 She is saying that she needs to focus her attention only to herself and her long-term friendship cannot afford her time any more only because she reached a certain age???!!! Her friends have spared time and effort for the friendships with her all the way along to maintain the friendships, and she is so self-centerd to ignore all of them, which is really selfish. If all the time and effort one puts into a friendship will end suddenly when the other person does not want the friendship any more for no reasons but only to focus on herself or himself, who would put in their time and effort into such a friendship?! She certainly aged but not wisely. Actually, she herself appears very probably to have been a toxic friend, if her attitude is like that.
