I like to think that Engineer is using the wrangler on a sentry, meaning that the sentry would only fire on his command, and is merely testing the Sniper's singing ability to see if he should leave the Sniper alone or shoot him into little, tiny bits.

Headcannon: Engineer is working on the 4th upgrade to the sentry and hasn't had any sleep in days, making him crazy and adding some serious stuff. The other mercs send sniper, because he can relate to lack of sleep due to his assassin job, and he finds engineer making serious abominations, leading him to try and talk him out of it while it moves slowly in the background.
