Noted quite a few changes to your US specced car, the Euro S's looked to have had the 3 speed Merc Auto's till '83, US models got the 4 speed before Europe The inline oil filters not part of the 90's fad where they were all the rage to add

I think the same guy who has been wiring this 928 had been wiring my 928... With the loose seat and relay panel out. I bridged the connector by the battery that goes to the neutral safety switch to get car to crank on key again

Every gray market car I've seen looked beat to Hell and back. And, this was back in the 80s.

Two rear wires near the fuel pump may have been to an in take pump. Assume it has been replaced for a standard in tank filter and wires are now not required.
