I like this sort of content because it makes me a hawk eye for spotting issues. I am inspecting my deck and porch now because it was built back around 1999 when the deck code was only 1 paragraph that only required the ledger board be positively attached to the house and that was it. Talk about wiggle room. Video saved.

Thank you for your professional and educational content. There's so many handy man content when it comes to deck codes out there. There's no accountability for wrong information that it's dangerous more than educational. I appreciate your work , please keep it coming.

Thanks for the video. I am not an inspector however always interested in following best practices. As home owner who owns the building code book the current one my state has adopted. Just looking around others decks I see so much wrong including my own deck that came with the house. Thank you for sharing this information. It would be nice to know the code book edition your taking the information from.

Are there height minimums for treated beams and joists?

0:40 I’d say that should be at a maximum 16” OC, not minimum.
