Never a good idea to use a skin tight uniform. Makes the performer more worried about what they look like than focusing on their performance. Just sayin

As a performer, I have to disagree. Skin tight uniforms allow for more interesting shapes of the body to be readable by the judges, as well as ensuring that no parts if the uniform will get in the performers way, especially during either high-flexibility dancing or equipment work that stays closer to the performers body. Also, as long as they fit correctly, most performers are comfortable in whatever we get because that's how we are trained 🤷♂️

Aesthetically I agree. It's hard for a bigger person to have the elegance and extension in a tighter uniform. A tighter uniform exaggerates it more. Things change and this will too. However, if a bigger person feels good in skin tight; then go for it.

As a coach I have to agree with OP. Everyone on the team needs to look good in bodysuits. However, you can hide a LOT of "flaws" with darker bodysuits.

as an activity, we need to get WAY past the idea of "body types" or "hiding flaws" and concentrate more on building the self esteem of our perfomers to the point where they feel comfortable in something that is tasteful and expressive. I worry about age appropriate skin exposure but that is about it. my students trust me and know that I will never let them look bad, even if the costume isn't their style or taste. no one needs to cover up more than another and to make someone feel like they have flaws or should hide more than another is evil.

I don't see anyone who looks worried out there. Perhaps you're more focused on someone's body than the effort they're putting into the show but it is quite obvious that all of them are locked in and giving it their all.
