I really don’t think Jorge is getting enough praise. He’s easily the best artist in the Comic Book industry. In a league all of his own.

The Superman/Swamp Thing piece has very strong Kevin Nowlan vibes.

Great analysis! I'm not a big fan of comic book art because the styles I've seen were, IMO, very careful or just unappealing to look at. His understanding of points-of-interest and shapes really are his selling point. If I knew DC lore, I'd read Super Sons. :D

It's worth reading even if you don't know DC lore. The art is just great. Superboy is Lois and Clark's son. Robin is Bruce Wayne's son. They go to the same elementary school, team up, fight crime, bicker like brothers and get into all kinds of trouble. That's all you really need to know. The rest you can get by reading the comic.

You're missing a lot, bub, but imo, I'm a comic artist who went to school. But I'm self-taught. Comic art has a story behind every image. Careful you day? Well, you wouldn't want a still flying pose or an awkward upright position without perspective . Dynamic positioning is what makes comics appealing.

@@NovaPrime5012I meant careful as in stiff. I think I was referring to an Alex Ross comic-he’s goes for hyperrealism and I didn’t think it meshed well into a comic. But I have been getting into comics since this comment. Greg Capullo and especially Sean Gordon Murphy are the artists I’ve been searching for in terms of flow.

What are interior and exterior lines
@LuisEscobar Жыл бұрын
Interior lines are the lines inside the figure or object that define the it's details. Exterior lines are the outline of the figure.

So i just wanted to know, when u say graphic, do u mean the way jorge shades in his drawing?
@LuisEscobar Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. No, when I say graphic, I mean the simplicity of the interior and exterior shapes he uses. For example, if you were to fill in one of his figures with black, creating a silhouette, what would be left would be a clear, simple, well designed, pleasing shape. You'd be able to do that to every individual body part on that same figure and have the same result. However, you'd also be able to do that for the way he designs shadows as well. When I say "graphic," I mean beautiful shape design.

What does he use to draw comic books
@LuisEscobar3 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure but my guess, based on the textures he uses, would be the same program I use, Clipstudio Paint.
