How much should I spend(as a beginner) . There are several offerings on a 2hand online Page in germany.... And yes: whats your tuning? Greetings from a sunny november saturday in eastgermany

I grew up in Iran, where my younger sister attended the musical conservatory from 5th grade through 12th grade. She then went on to earn her bachelor's and master's degrees in music. She was trained by renowned masters such as the late Farāmarz Pāyvar and Hossein Alizadeh. Over the years, she has toured the world and performed at prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and many others. Santoor is her primary instrument.I don’t know where or how you learned, but your skill is on par with hers. Typically, solo santoor performances don’t last for a full hour, so I really appreciate how you broke that norm. It’s exceptionally pleasant to listen to this for an entire hour while working, reading, or simply relaxing. Thank you!

If everyone knew the truth about the universe and what we are, they would understand that these types of fusions and hybrids and “collabs” are EXACTLY what must happen to further evolution. The reunification process is well underway, the one soul is beginning to recombine. It’s having thoughts of combining 2 extremes of music through you. Do t think about it, DO IT. Make the collaboration that can bridge cultural gaps, music is the sound of harmony (God) and through it we can learn to love each other again

Santoor is Shatatantri vina, which means "100-stringed vina". The word is made up of shat, which means "hundred", and tantra or tar, which means "string". The santoor is a traditional Indo-Persian string instrument that originated in Jammu and Kashmir. The santoor's roots can be traced back to the Pinaki Veena, which is mentioned in the #Rigveda The Pinaki Veena is the first string instrument, and the idea for it came from the bow and arrow.

You don't need to complicate this word so much. In Persian, it simply means the same thing without much change. Only the accent has changed a little. Santoor=sadtar "sad"=a hundred "tar"= string we also have toor in persian which means Interwoven strands or net .

It's great to see you making this ancient instrument 'visible' and audible here. I played a 42 string hammered dulcimer, made by Roger Frood, in Somerset, England for years in the 1980s and 90s and travelled and busked with it across the UK, France, Spain and Ireland. I also played Indian santoor, 60 strings, sat in on sitar classes to begin to learn ragas and styles. However l only met 2 hammered dulcimer players in Ireland, one was an English guy who was living in Ireland. Also Andy Dowling who was about 90 when l met him, he lived in the bog lands of county Tipperary in the cottage he was born in. He bought his first dulcimer in a junk shop in Dublin aged 60 and as he was already a fiddle player he taught himself the dulcimer. So l have no idea why you think there is such a thing as an Irish dulcimer. People can mistake it for the Appalachian dulcimer which is not a tuned percussion instrument and has only 4 strings. Last century in the UK there was a dulcimer club and we would get together and play in large groups, both dulcimers, which sounded well together. As l understand it the first santoor type instrument was Assyrian, 4,000 bce. It travelled on the silk trade route east to china and west into Europe. It was and is again the lead instrument in a classical Chinese orchestra, it was of course banned by the Mao regime. Somewhere on the road l met an Australian woman who managed to study the Chinese dulcimer, yang ching (l may have spelt that wrong!) Part of her training was to play it upside down so the strings can't be seen! I could go on endlessly about this daunting instrument! I think it has an archetypal sound that resonates with deep ancient memory, in the northern hemisphere, l have not come across a similar instrument from the southern hemisphere. I felt it changed the mood of people on the streets and street markets wherever l went. It really is best played outdoors, l would practice in woodlands and birds would start singing.

What is tuning this like?? I can barely handle my guitar lol
@inspiritanaАй бұрын
Ye, 72 strings, that equals tuning 12 guitars in a row! haha! Honestly, the tuning is probably the biggest reason why not many people play this instrument. It's almost like an art itself :)

You dedicated your art to shiva (Nataraj). There is nothing we bring here nor we are taking away anything from here. Everything comes from that one - the supreme and everything will merge back to the supreme. It’s a beautiful journey that we are sharing. Very beautiful Santoor play. Om Namah Shivay. Har har Mahadev. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

So grateful for the music so glorious from a centuries old instrument, from which the ancient Royals found their peace in the midst of their troubled world.
