Thanks Dave for showing the different placements for the 360 cam. You can try a couple of other positions too: #1: clamp on the handle bar with rod fully extended and resting on your left shoulder. This will cover you from close counter (behind the helmet) this will give the audience of watching the view from your eyes literally. #2: clamp on the rear end handle bar. Love your practical approach to the videos, keep it rolling.

Thank you for this video! I have seen other motorcycle mounting videos, and like you said, I can’t believe that it would be strong enough. Especially with the selfie stick. I didn’t want to find out the hard way. You confirmed this. I have wondered about other ways such as sitting on the stick or stuffing it in my jacket. I haven’t used the camera on my bike yet since I recently got it in winter. But spring is here and I can’t wait to get out riding with it. Thanks again!

As for mounting the 360 with the selfie stick fully extended on the handlebars or on the rear of the bike. I take a small piece of 2000-grit sandpaper and place it inside the clamp. I haven't had the camera slip using the sandpaper. At least so far. Neither does the sandpaper hurt the finish since it isn't slipping.

Great tips. Appreciated! I guess magnetic mounts are a no go for bikes. They are perfect for car shots though. The funny thing is I am using this motorbike clamp with a magnetic mount, as support for X3 on an extended selfie stick, mounted to a car via a suction cup mount. That setup works perfectly for some great 360 shots even at highway speeds. Might be useful for bikes too.

It’s fine to mount to a ram mount as long as you don’t extend the selfie stick beyond a foot as it will slip due to the weight.

I'm not quite following how you use the extended selfie with the third party doubt mount and how that's an advantage. I thought the weak point was the screw between the selfie stick and what it's connected to on the ball mount. Isn't that still in play? I think I must be overlooking something simple. Guess the self stick ball is tied into the third party mount but I'm not seeing how that reduced the pressure. Thanks.

How do you keep the Selfie Stick from collapsing on itself when it's extended straight up or at a steep angle? Love your material! Quick question if I may. Have you had any luck using the manfratto double clamp mount in center of the handlebars on a GS with the selfie stick slightly above the windscreen? I realize the insta360 will be directly in front of view. I’m preparing for a ride through the Alps and need to pack minimally. I’d like to have one good mount that will provide a variety of shots. I’ll be one of those guys wanting to leave it on as mush as possible so I’ll have it plugged in to the power supply on the bike. 😊Also, when the camera is mounted, do you use a remote to turn on/off or just press the power button? Much thanks!!

Hi there. The Manfrotto double mount is too bulky to fit the handlebars on the GS so for that purpose I just use a regular Ram ball mount and sometimes with a selfie stick collapses to its lowest level. I have also extended it whilst holding it with my left hand to make it secure just for a minute or so at a time. I bought the remote but it only starts the X3 recording (in sleep mode) in 30p and I record all my vids in 25p which is a huge issue when I’m editing the footage with my action cams so I just manually start/stop by pressing record myself. Your files are going to be massive if you’re planning to leave this recording, I hope you have a wonderful computer. Dave.👌🏍🥴

Thank you for the quick response and advise! Obviously, by my questions, you can tell this is new to me.😂 My goal is to capture the memories trip and share it with family when I return home. I had planned to buy an 256GB card for each day then transfer the card on to my MacBook for a backup each night. Your thoughts on how to manage files for a multi day ride would be GREATLY appreciated and welcomed. Recording everything seems impractical and unmanageable, especially on 7 day ride. Sounds like it is best to just reach up, turn on the Insta360 (in 25P) when I want to capture something noteable like passing through a small alpine town or notable landscapes feature, then turn it off, as examples. Thanks again for your time!

@@dpendleton525 Hi Dave, you just answered it yourself mate at the end there. That’s the only way to do it although I must say I wouldn’t use a 360 as the only camera to document a trip like this. I’d use a DJI Osmo Action 3 or 4 as your main camera on a chin mount then have your 360 cam as an effects camera of you on the bike. The 360 image falls apart when you try and zoom in to scenery using the software whereas the Osmo in 4K resolution is stunning and allows a fair bit of post digital zoom as well as a much clearer image and far smaller file sizes. That’s just what would suit me of course but the processing alone will break your heart if you’re only using a 360 cam.

If I buy the extended stick will I have the need to buy smaller one too? Can we use the extended selfie stick for the same cycle/bike shots? Or only smaller one is recommended?

You only need the smaller one in fairness. The longer one wobbles around a lot and it affects the picture greatly.

@@WheelieGoodTV but how will I get fake drone shots? And view from greater heights? And shoot unreachable places?
