Neat, I have always nagged at Insta360 for keeping the 5.7k in the One X2 and while the 1-inch 360 camera mod is a definite bump in resolution and low light performance, it still feel it feels lacking considering that it cost nearly twice as much as the One X2 for minor bump in resolution and image quality.

I feel like it's just a limitation of the tech, I have a One X and the same specs. I can't blame them for trying to remain relevant, but until then, my four year old One X and your two year old One X2 is essentially the same in terms of resolution.

I've been slowly transitioning from premiere to resolve. First it was just coloring, now its audio, now its (almost) everything. Extremely powerful software and away with subscription based software. Can't wait for your video on it!

I'm stunned. I've seen a lot 360 video that looks decent, but usually falls flat when it's edited down into unidirectional video, but this stands up to that use even.

They have got to turn down that baked-in threshold edge contrast sharpening, because high contrast edges flicker at speed like driving past a picket fence. I know it can be done, and still look clean, because I do it with my 1" G7XII. Other than that; nice. 👍

I think once 360 cameras can record at least 8k or 10k they will be great camera replacements. That may seem high but remember once you actually frame your shot your video is most likely 1080p because of the smaller frame. Well get there eventually!

No they wont... so I wont touch this product until I have some warranty offers for free lens replacements because as any 360 owner knows their lenses are not made from gorilla glass and scratch EASILY. Lens protectors NOW or I dont want this product.

Most lenses have similar problems. Have you ever seen someone dropping their lenses by accident ? Have you ever seen any lens surviving such moments without getting damaged ? I have seen dozens falling (including one of mine, for I slept in the mud on a mountain slope during a photo-report) : none of them came back unscathed.

Love the look of it, love being able to mount of wireless mic to it but I feel like it's not the hugest jump from my X2. I think I may wait one more generational upgrade before I trade out the X2. The X2 is still a very competent and amazing device.

Definitely an improvement over the 1R (especially in low light) but the footage still looks oversharpened and not great at times. Best part of the video is you involving so many other creatives. Keep doing the thing man! And happy birthday Kari!!

yeah and around 700 bucks for a 360 camera, which can't be used in watersports or any other 'damp' environments... besides, I have the feeling, the moment you buy this now, there will be another 360 camera out there, that is waterproof. The editing on the phone is wicked though, allthough I don't usually do that, don't like the small screen and limitated controls... but that's probably me (getting to old for that hehe)

I can’t figure out why they don’t just arrange the the cameras by using a regular tetrahedron. A selfie stick could be attached to one corner, a light on another corner, a microphone on another corner, and a power supply on the fourth corner. There’d be no minimum distance for good stitching. Trigonometry is not hard and it’s only four cameras. They could release a tetrahedral 360 camera with 1” sensors for $1000 and it would be the best-selling camera of all time.

It's simply that bigger sensors capture more light! It has nothing to do with how dense the photosites are! A 12MP 1inch sensor captures the same amount of light as a 50MP 1inch sensor (if it exists).

Very cool. As long as the bit rate is way improved, it should be a winner. I could live without the fancy lens, and maybe even the 1” sensor, but shooting from a motorcycle in a very detail-filled (roadside trees and foliage) environment on my ONE X2 has been pretty frustrating due to blocky results from the insufficient bit rate (IMO).

I think a key driver is if you are in motion or not. If you have cool air taking the heat away while you have it mounted in your car that is very different than having it do a multiple-hour time-lapse on a tripod.

I purchased Insta One R 1Inch Edition Bundle for around $550USD on the month it was first released and imported to Japan. The priced tag to me was hella expensive-but for what it offered according to Insta360's spec sheet-it was a buy for me at that point. Then I used it for 4 month or so-I'm not using it anymore-DISAPPOINTED. The camera is okay comparing to GoPro but it's not $550 quality. In less than a year, Japan's local market price dropped down to $220 to $250USD. So apparently every Japanese user was in the same boat. Local retail stores were wanting to get rid of their stocks, so they were even putting the camera in their new year "Lucky Bag 福袋ふくぶくろ” and selling for around $220 among other goods. I'm wanting to sell mine, but the best I could get back now is like $150 at most due to the price drop. The camera is NOT awfully bad-it sometimes does better jobs than GoPros at some aspects. I'd have been happy if I got mine for $200 or even for $300. Good luck selling the new cam for $800! Dear Potato Channel viewers! WAIT for a few months! You might get one for less than $400 by importing from Japan!

What camera do you recommend for filming animals in the Zoo? It needs to have a good picture straight from the camera, without color grading! It is necessary for shooting lions next to them, needs to be good colors, fast autofocus and not to expensive.

There is also special mount for the rode wireless receiver on the ONE X2. It's called Ulanzi pt-20 and available in the Insta360 store. It comes with a cable that connects precisely to the USB-mic attachment. I have it since a few weeks and it works perfect.
