Useless on the 360 and 4k modul, because the stabilizer get worse. It's only for static shots good. My 4k modul footage gets shaky with the 360 shutter rule.

Shanil, Love your videos. So easy to understand your content and importantly put into practice. Can you make a cheat sheet for when to use ND and Polariser filters ie cloudy, bright, glarey days etc. Make it idiot proof for people like me. Thank you.
@hubey
@hubey 3 жыл бұрын
Simple answer: Sunny = use polariser. Not sunny = use no filter. Want motion blur = use strong ND (but not in low light). Reason: ND doesn't change the image, just motion blur in any light. Polariser does change the image, it reduces reflective glare, this makes the image look like it has more dynamic range, it makes the sky and clouds darker, and colours more saturated. I use a polariser when it's sunny, or there are many reflective surfaces. Rule of thumb, if you go outside and your eyes squint due to sunlight, your eyes and your camera want a polariser. Cloudy days can be glarey too, but they don't tend to make reflective surfaces glare, you can use a polariser if you want, it may bring more detail into the sky, but it also might make your image a little low contrast. Best thing to do is to try before and after in both weather and see what you like. :-)

Can you please point me to the chart you mentioned in an earlier video that discussed EV/ISO settings? Can't seem to locate it. Just purchased your magnet/short mount from Best360 Shop. Can't wait for the camera to arrive next week and start exploring.

I doubt you've intentionally tried to scratch these, but how scratch resistant do you think the 360 mod lenses are? I always makes sure to put the lens cover back on the camera before putting it back in my bag, but I doubt the cover will fit over the ND filter, so will these be OK without it?
@edebussc
@edebussc 4 жыл бұрын
Uh, what I mean by lens cover is the rubber cover that came with the case (not the lens guards).
@Best360
@Best360 4 жыл бұрын
Yea the rubber lens cover won't fit over the nd filters. I think you either need to get a cloth type pouch to put the ONE R with ND filters in, or remove the nd filters and put it back in the case, and use the rubber to cover the lenses.

The different lens mods have completely different apertures. Also the supported frame rates the different mods support are very different too. Could you explain how your recommendations do or don't take these differences into account? Dual lens mod has an f/2.0 aperture with a max of 30 fps at 5.7k. So it should need a much higher ND filter than the 4K mod which has a f/2.8 lens (one stop slower) and can do higher frame rates (leading to less light.) The one-inch mod has an f/3.2 aperture, so also needs less ND. It seems to me then that the ND64 or ND1000 would be the best choices for the dual lens mod if the ND16 or so are the best for the single lens versions.

Great point and aperture info. I did a full daylight test with the 1" mod in my backyard with the Freewell Bright Light 3-pack (8, 16, 32 ND), 24 FPS and 1/50 shutter speed; only with the ND-32 was I able to capture footage that wasn't blown out. Looking to purchase the ND for the 360 mod and thinking either 32 or 64 at a minimum. Edit: I think I had the ISO at 200 or 400.

Imagine, still no filters for the one rs 1 inch. Currently looking elsewhere for replacement to what essentially amounts to an interior or low light camera unless you want to consistently void the sun in day time work and film in 180.

Do you set the shutter speed to 2000 manually? And so how does the shutter speed go to 1/125 automatically then? WHAT ABOUT THE ISO. I wish to shoot with the 360 mod out of the front windscreen of a car, and see both outside and the passengers inside. Can I use one ND8 or ND16 facing the outside and none facing inside the car?

@Best360 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you have to set the shutter speed manually when using nd filters to get the correct result. The shutter speed can only be set lower if you have nd filters on. ISO should be set to 100 at all times in daylight. You should always use the same nd filters on both lenses or you could end up with a warped stitch line
@mariodasilva8729
@mariodasilva8729 3 жыл бұрын
@@Best360 OK, Thanks. But if I use the ND8 (or ND16) filter on the side of the 360 mod facing the passengers in the car, would that not make the interior much darker than normal, assuming the outside of the car is in bright sunshine? The stitch line would be on the front window so less problem. I'll use the Filter border setting, right?

What happens to the image if you only apply the filter without making manual changes to camera settings? For example: Insta360 One R One Inch mod with ND32 filter installed - then leave the camera in Auto settings. Does the camera yield positive results for motion blur (a more natural feel to the image) ?

@jortiz0221

Newb question probably, but when applying the ND filters does that automatically change your shutter speed or is that something you have to change in settings to match whichever ND filter is being used?

I did a 360 Nd4 test and comparison video. Wasn’t stoked on the the stitch line. Completely worthless for use with the mobile app. Decent on the desktop studio with the dynamic stitching though.
