They are great in terms convenience, sound quality and battery life, but the signal is interrupted within short distances if the line-of-sight between transmitter and receiver is broken.. Of course, that isn't a problem when the subject is always facing the camera/transmitter, but I've recorded many live class sessions where it became an issue. We've got three sets of and found it wasn't an isolated issue. That being said, I'd still buy them!

Hi. I pushed the go button one the one r yesterday!!!!!!!! Together with the charging hub, an extra battery, the mic adapter and the GPS smart remote - going to have loads of fun with this when it arrives 😁 Selected the "aerial edition", which is the 360 mod and drone mount. I fly the mavic pro, so got that one (there's also one designed for the mavic 2 as well). The great thing about this drone mount is that its designed so that the drones within the one r's blind spot, enabling a full 360 degree flying camera 😎 Can't wait to get it up in the air

But, I noticed on the insta360 website that a disclaimer appears only when the mavic 2 option is ticked, which doesn't appear when the original mavic pro is ticked. The disclaimer mentions that the mount is "not compatible with the mavic 2's GPS , and the drones GPS signal will be affected." This means expect a significant reduction in satellite connectivity and possible complete loss of GPS signal while in flight. This will have an effect on the drones stability and return to home. Best tested using baby steps, as will I, before completely trusting it

Aahh yes that was what I read - I thought that they’d brought out something else. I can fly in atti mode but always like to know I can switch to gps mode as a back-up. The pro2 doesn’t have a switchable atti mode anyway so it just means your gps is just interfered with throughout - it’s a shame. You’ll be fine with the pro though I think but as you say baby steps.

Hi Rich First of all thanks a lot for your excellent videos regarding the Insta360 ONE R. I also own the Half Frame Quick release mount, but I've the issue that a small black line/shadow is always visible within my footage, when I'm using the 360 mod. It looks like that this case is a bit too thick. Do you have this issue also?

Thanks for your comment - I haven’t had this issue myself - all the cases should be the same size but I have had someone else comment with the same problem so maybe some batches aren’t as well made.

Nice summary of the many accessories out there. I have just bought a Ulanzi frame for my One R from Amazon in the UK, which is made of metal and importantly has 1/4 inch tripod compatible inserts drilled directly into the base, so you can use a selfie stick and guarantee it stays at 90 degrees to the camera. It also comes with an optional screw on Go-pro finger connector if you need that too and has two integrated cold shoes, one on the top and one on the side of the cage. The only downside to the Ulanzi cage is that it does not have mounting points for the lens guards.

Great work, clear explainations, relevent comments. Full of useful items, and clever accessories... bravo ! Due to my job, I've spent some 15 years on films sets (with more to come, hopefully). And I can assure everyone around here this absolute fact : without the Manfrotto Super clamp, there would be no modern ages film industry. Period. When a beginner, I remember asking a technician how many of these were in those dozens of storage boxes at the back of his truck... "Probably something around 2000 to 2500, and we use a fair amount of them... you'll see." Well, he was so true... I've seen ! Some had no paint left on them, but no other things were damaged... the thing was operating like new. Personally I have 5 simple and a double, with plans for 5 extra ones very soon. These are beasts you'll never ever manage to break. With a pair of double ones, you even can hang a pull-bar and do your workout !

just started watching videos of the Insta360, how could i use one of these to create accurate kitchen plans with all the measurements including doors, windows ext., could this be done?

So the best way to do this would be to create a virtual tour with software such as kuula which is free. You would need one or two 360 photos of the kitchen. You would then have to either add dimensions or floating graphics via text. You can bring up a floor plan with dimensions or a photo of any appliance with dimensions using what are called hotspots that you click on. So it’s fairly straightforward but you have to build it using the software. There maybe a specific software for kitchens with measurements etc but I don’t know. Hope this helps.

You can set the time lapse settings on the camera itself as well As star lapse which is also a time lapse. I haven’t checked on the app but I’m sure you can set it on both.

I am finding it quite challenging to source some accessories in the UK, especially Insta360’s own. Hero 8 is the easiest to use by a mile and produces great images so it depends if you need or want 360. If not go for hero 8. The Max gives you the best of both worlds with 360 and hero mode and it’s great that you can switch between the lenses in hero mode but the resolution isn’t as good as the hero 8. The Max has great camera sound just like the hero 8. The 360 workflow is a steep learning curve and the Max doesn’t have as many features as the ONE R. The ONE R is also constantly being updated and has a lot of easy auto edits in the app. You have to write down exactly what you want from a camera and go from there. Do you want slow motion, do you mind swapping over modules, does sound matter, length of time you will Re it’s for, editing on mobile or desktop etc etc Then just look at as many reviews as possible. Hope this helps.

The onboard audio is not very good - in this video I use the rode wireless Go which is amazing. But some are saying that the audio is not good since the last update but I haven’t tested it. There are lots of issues with other mics - I don’t think the audio differs from one mod to the next.

Thanks for watching. Sounds like a memory card speed issue - make sure you use a memory card that is recommended on the insta website - Sandisk extreme or extreme pro. Hope this helps

I have an Insta360 Go 2, no problem with that, but I have just bought the One R and cannot get it to be recognised by the app. I thought I’d delete the Go 2 on the app in order to allow the One R to be recognised, but I can’t see where to that. There is an option to add another camera but it’s grayed out and can’t be used. Any ideas how to either delete a camera or to add a second camera?

I would try going directly to your WiFi and see if the one r is listed in there to click on - if not you could back up all your files and Re install the app. To forget the Go2 go to WiFi settings on your phone and try ignoring from here rather than in the insta app - I haven’t tried this myself but it may work.

Thanks - it is my favourite bag and I always use it but as you say if only it had some padding - I now have strap I use with it which at least means it stays around my neck and not just on the floor. I’d also worry in cities that everyone can see that you have expensive cameras in the bag - you could be a target.

How did you get the Rode Mic to work? It's only plugin-powered too, right? With the latest firmware I'm getting near 0 output on my Comica BoomX.

I know not every mic works well with the one r - I have only tested the rode wireless go but I know others have had issues with low recording levels on other camera mics. I had to put the sensitivity level to the highest setting. Hopefully soo they will have mic input level adjustment in camera which will help.

Too bad that you can’t set the proper iso and shutter speed without nd filters , too bad that is no nd filters for 360 . I’m thinking about those guard lenses as nd filter , maybe someone got this idea 😉
