I had just purchased the RS 1", when the X3 was announced, with its higher megapixel sensors.... at a far lower price.😳 Thankfully, the image quality the RS 1" puts out is still better than the X3. As a virtual tour creator, I'm hoping for further increases in image quality with these little 360 cameras so that I no longer need to stitch MSLR images together in PTGui Pro.

20 min mark. My issue is the camera over heat way before it hitting the mark so I can't even test it. New firmware will fix the overheating issue first and then I can test the mark. I am sure it still has it just like One RS.

GoPro has proven that it does not need to be this way since the MAX does not suffer from this issue! Maybe reviewers and high-profile users such as yourself could lobby on behalf of those who need uninterrupted recording because they might just listen...

No BS reviews are always most appreciated! I was hoping this could be the competition for the virtual tours professional camera... Not. Also, I have a big issue with #ThetaX ; it constantly overheats I cannot complete an entire project. It looks like the X3 has the same problem. I have tried the camera audio for recording “loud” concerts. The best one is the #QooCam8K (surprisingly); not even the new #QooCamEGO , #Insta360X2 , or Insta360EVO, did a good job. Also, I film a lot run n gun at the beach and in sandy environments; how do you take care of your glasses before putting them inside their pouches? The overheating issue only happen in HDR Video mode tho in over 100 degree hot desert lol. I realize my use case is very extreme b/c my filming style as a documentary filmmaker. Normal VT it should not be a problem on heat issue. Audio is a big issue Insta360 need to adjust. I mentioned in one of my earlier video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/manWpIKFrsZ-jpI For lens safty - I have a lens pen with me all the time and clear it before shoot and after shoot. Also clean the plastic len cap.

Anyone who knows too feel free to pop in your direct experience based findings and what works on the Move! Many thanks for checking that the One X2 batteries will fit the X3. I wonder if the Insta360 Dive Case for the One X2 will work with the X3 in terms of stitching? The physical buttons are different, but both cameras can be controlled with the Insta360 GPS remote instead of physical buttons.

Your upcoming comparison of X2 vs. X3 360-degree image quality as viewed through a Quest 2 would be essential for deciding whether or not to upgrade. My KZbin channel has VR footage of open water swimming in Crete, Greece using the X2 and I would upgrade if the X3 is noticeably better. The available Insta360 dive case is a key reason to buy an X2 or X3 over all other cameras if you want underwater footage.

I can't wait for the GoPro Max 2, I downloaded the raw footage from Insta360's dual 1" 360 camera and when watching in VR it didn't seem to be any better than my Max, people around 10' away, you can't even make out their faces. The Max might have even been a little better. I'm hoping to make 360 VR vlogs but right now it doesn't seem any of the camera's are capable of giving a realistic VR experience.

Waterproof - not sure. This is pretty damn good as 10-meter. Resolution - I will say maybe as no one really know true resolution these days until we test it against chart and side by side. Just as this X3 11K photo issue.

No I don't think so. HDR is an in-camera sensor feature - special for that 1/2 inch sensor. I did some research - it is from a different type of sensor line up. Also 8K photo mode is require for 8K timelapse - and One RS 1" does not do that. It is all about the ISP power and sensors. Since they use different sensor - so cross features might not be possible. Again, pure speculation here. I hope as well as I have THREE One RS 1" 360!!!!

Hi Hugh, In the x3 with active hdr mode is it possible to record at 30 fps? In the insta360 R with hdr video mode you can record only at 25 fps. It means more dynamic range but no chance to use most of the templates in shot lab section of the smartphone app. Great video mate.

X2 has no sharpness settings - and that is big issue. X3 and ONE RS 1" has the same sharpness settings and they are all in LOW as recommended (I have an entire video on that on why you want to get to LOW and deal with it in post). So X3 and One RS 1" is the same. But still X3 sensor might be a little bit sharper than the 1"

Very very solid. You see my filming environment! We toasted a Canon C500 and a RED in the dust. As the fine dust get into ports. But not for X3! So it really speak something as an action camera.

My brand new x2 got lens damaged and replacement cost $200 SGD for one side - worst thing is the premium lens guard popped open when it fell to the ground due to strong winds and I thought only the lens guard was scratched until I recorded without the lens guard and saw weird marks in the video. You will need to wait unfortunately. But it is NOT a real estate virtual tour camera. It is a 360 video camera. So VT you should consider One RS 1".

Yes I will compared the Audio with external Mic. I believe it is still stuck at 16Hz instead of 48Hz. The battery life is GREAT! The camera has a more effective power usage so it last all day. The lab use is 80 hours. When I use it, I can film all day and just charge it at night for next day use. As you see, I am a very heavy user and shoot a lot during the day!

Prob in the future. But they claim it is a new on camera feature just like the upcoming GoPro MAX 2 camera. So they might lock it for X3 only. But I am not really sure.

The artifacts is the X3 camera lol - it is next to the 1". One RS 1" stitch out almost the X3 - but as I mentioned, the stitching is not as close as X3.

5:25 That's not true. The size an shape are different. Even if you managed to forced it in and I did worked, you'd do damage and wouldn't get as much life anyway. The extra milliamps are to MAINTAIN the same battery life (in minutes, at 80-ish) as the last one. Had they kept the 1640 battery, it would have gone from 80 to 70 or something. Anyway...The shape of the body and lens, noticably bigger, means new stuff is needed...SOMETIMES EVEN NEW MOUNTS. I found out the hard way the old One X2 mounts may work with the screw hole of the X3...but you have to turn them 90 degrees WHICH MEANS YOU CAN'T TILT NOW! So...ya I had to buy new mounts too. Well I needed the new dive case, anyway.. .

Yes absolutely. The low light fire dancing is all set exposure manually settings. Auto will look really bad.

Can you take photo spheres for Google maps with the One RS 1" & X3 without being connected to the street view app at the time?

You will need a special trigger software. One RS 1" will have a firmware update later this year to do that. X3 is not target to GSV user unfortunately. So will need more hacks

Great In Depth Comparison Video but I see that you had missed/skipped out on Insta360 One RS 360 lens mod in the Comparison of the Video which is basically What everyone Owning or Wanting a One RS 360 module Kit version would LOVE or Want to See to Know How the X3 Actually Fares in the Real World and whether the higher cost etc is worth the price for a First Time Purchase or better off Getting the One RS Twin Edition etc?! Just a thought and request for a video on the same even just between One RS Dual One Inch One RS 360 lens version and the X3 (and X2 only if needed or worth the trouble?!) STILL,. I'm NOT massively convinced for real world functionality and practicality of these devices, as I'm looking for longer duration recording option in 360 preferably with a Direct LIVE telecast option of say a longer trip or Investigation Crimes Done illegally demolished and changed Locations Route to reach and expose them For Global Courts Agencies and Even People Citizens India World in General who ACTUALLY TRULY want to RID the World From Crimes Against Humanity and Children! I'm Game! No one or Companies willing to help though, this is even despite me having all the evidence documentation digital and otherwise needed per law and media information public service announcements, Yet NOT ONE PERSON OR COMPANY willing to provide the Platform or Devices for said purposes of Truthful Information Carrying Out the Legality Judicial Prosecution which they've been illegally Evading over 3 Decades and 10 Years Latest from Start of their Sabotage Coverup Attempts! Both from inside and outside the House and Country! I'm not scared of anyone! Thank you for this long comment! I totally hear you my friend! Yes, I did missed the regular 360 lens mode. But I can tell you here the X3 and the One RS 1" is a lot better than the regular One RS 360 mod - just b/c all these are new release after 2 years. The 360 Mode has flare issue that is address in 1" and X3. Also the sensors are bigger and low light is way better. I hope this answer your question. If not, I will consider making a more detailed review next.

Oh Yes, Please Do Consider making that comparison video also explaining Specific Settings according to Ambient Light/low light and especially the settings for Fast moving action footage for clear noise free Audio and Video! Awww thank you Terry! I am all over the place zipping around with my Onewheel. It is good you put your camera down and enjoy it tho. I did that too - it is about disconnect from technology and remember it in spirit lol. But by saying that, I did capture it with other BIGGER camera lol.

Awesome detailed review thank you Hugh! It was a great watch. One new capability not mentioned is the 60fps in 4K: It will make it a popular upgrade as action cam like for EUC riders. I wonder if you found the LOG profile in the X3 usable this time? Or still suffering from banding and false coloring due to a low bit depth image pipeline.

@@hughhou 🙏 and thanks for clear answer. I wonder if they don't use the imaging pipeline correctly or if it's a hardware limitation. Hoping for 10-bit HLG support future products. They'll need a new chipset. Then my next 360 cam will be a GoPro! ProTune can be transformed decently into HDR 1000, and GP2 should offer 60 FPS at a good resolution 😊

I don't think the upgrades are enough to get me to replace my two X2s and my GO2 and the 1" is a bit expensive for amature social media (maybe sales will be slow and it will be discounted? If'd they'd take trade-ins of the X2, that might make be go for it). Do you think the X3 will bring software upgrades to the X2? You said X2 batteries will go in the X3.
