@turbocateyeS4757 ай бұрын
Yall are all saying the same shit. Grants has been the most reliable LS. And it's entirely possible to build a reliable one for drifting that makes super good power. Also yes Jimmy made a lot of power and did over rev it but it should've held up longer and been okay. Something strange happened that started the chain of events. He could've gotten a TSP Brawler short block for the same price, used the same blower and just spent a little extra on heads and it'd have been more than okay. I think he assumed both being gm parts he could warranty something. I can also almost guarantee any of his friends with forced induction LS3 aren't actually bone stock unless they make baby power. So it was and wasn't his fault but shit happens and I rock with Jimmy regardless so I'ma give him a pass for the LS fiasco

Seeing the subframe and steering rack colors youre on the right path to making the car look like one of the retro skis you just got! Please give it a rad 90s paint job and maybe use the Kawi font for your name on the side. So many of our american pro cars look boring and nascar-ish now. Also we need new merch gang!

What I find mad is LS & JZ are both 90s engines, 3 decades old in design, that was obviously a peak time, there aren't a great many engines except the K20 (which is barely into the 00's) that are so widely swapped!

First Jimmy with the Drift HQ 1J, now Grant with their 2J. Super sick!! I do wish there were more m5x/s5x turbo engines. Is there a specific reason no one runs them? Always curious about them cause i used to drag race them and loved them. Feel like they have a better powerband because they flow more. Just not sure of their failures while drifting, cause drag and street pulls they took all the abuse we could throw at them to 1000+whp.
@dylanlobbestael7 ай бұрын
I don’t think there’s as much R&D behind those motors, compared to the JZ. People think BMW and think unreliable, but there are a lot of pros with the M5X engines.
@Matt_Lanzer_137 ай бұрын
@@dylanlobbestaelnot exactly true. There isn’t as much RND for professional drifting, STATESIDE. The s/m5x series is good, but they have their own issues. Michael essa ran an s5x for a while in fd and he had a lot of random issues and failures and stuff, and that’s a big sponsored team. Over in Europe they use them much more seriously
@dylanlobbestael7 ай бұрын
@@Matt_Lanzer_13 Most ppl in the US are still stuck on CX racing manifolds and eBay GT35 turbos, I just don’t see that as much with JZ engines here.
@shifty19277 ай бұрын
@@dylanlobbestael gotcha. Yea we were the first to break 1000whp with a m52b28 in 2007, but we drag raced. Had some help from Andreas at PPF in sweden which is who made our intake and exhaust manifolds. They had been boosting the m5x/s5x for a while at that point. We ran the first 9 with a 9.9 @ 160 in an e36 and pretty much retired from it. Well we had a tube chassis e36 that was up next but ended up selling it to Jordan from RK tunes who was getting it for someone. But I've always just been curious if there was like a specific reason no one drifts them cause they were super reliable to us, made 715whp on a stock m52 and put 7k miles on it street driving and to track rentals with no issues. Only blew once it was pushed on the dyno on around an 800+whp pass.
@shifty19277 ай бұрын
@@Matt_Lanzer_13 do you remember what his issues were? I remember him winning the championship with an S54. Also remember talking to him about headgasket sealing and he said he didn't have too many issues with the s54 Cause it was our main struggle years ago when pushing the m52/s52. Ended up o-ringing our m52 block/head to make 1000whp.

You need that Artec Manifold and Plazmaman intake 💯😜🇦🇺
@RustyShackleford90007 ай бұрын
Plazmaman makes 80 whp less than the stock manifold below like 8,000rpm, that’s why Adam uses the stock manifold on both his e36 comp cars. They tried the plazmaman on the Europe car and switched back bc stock had so much more low end power/torque.
@turbocateyeS4757 ай бұрын
Artec yes. Plazmaman maybe. But there are other intakes that work great. Also I don't know Grants pro driving goals but if it's FD, he won't be pro for atleast a year or two. Even making 80hp less, it'd be more than enough to keep up with other pro2 or LZ invitational cars. What works for one driver doesn't work for everyone and we all have particular things we like and dislike. Even if a intake makes 80hp peak less, it still might make more low or mid and could be worth it in some situations.
@RustyShackleford90007 ай бұрын
@@turbocateyeS475 no, the plasma man makes 80 more peak, 80 less midrange hp. Also both are called manifolds: intake manifold and exhaust manifold.
@turbocateyeS4757 ай бұрын
@@RustyShackleford9000 I was using it as an example. I should've said aftermarket intakes. I also know the technical term but on a car channel I didn't think id have to specify intake manifold or exhaust manifold. And what I was saying is still sorta the same. Adam probably still has a 3.4. That, the throttle body size, supporting parts and the tune all matter alot. Grant has a 3.0 so even tho the plazmaman trend might sorta be the same, it might be worth it for Grant to have power at a certain rpm. I've tested almost every stock and aftermarket LS intake with the cars and trucks I build at my shop. Displacement matters. Turbo size matters. Everything adds up. A TBSS intake might make more peak on a 388ci but might make more mid and less peak on a junkyard 5.3l when compared to a Holley or even a Corvette intake. It makes sense for Adam, how he drives and what hes competing against to switch back to stock but one of the other brands might make more sense for Grant. Stock JZ intakes are hideous but they do work well and a comp car is really just a tool so whatever he chooses, I trust it. He's got a lot of friends who know the recipe.
