Thanks first for all your efforts in sofar videos, whenever I go through your playlist or channel , time after time tell myself not to rush but need to frame all the necessary requirements into creating Post and submitting using appropriate hashtag, some videos suggesting to their fans , that Instagram has give new advise instead of 30 hashtag to be 3-5 , any idea , however your explanation is perfect and reasonable. thanks again

I found interesting that we should be mixing the order on the hashtags. It makes sense, but I wasn't doing it up until I watched this video. I've started my Instagram page about 6 months ago and I have been using the hashtags in the same order because my phone learned it and actually suggests each hashtag in the same order. 1- Is there any benefit, at this point in going back and rearranging the order in old posts? I guess it would matter for reaching people, but would it make that post look better for Instagram? Just curious :) Thank you! Great content!

Yes, it's not something that automatically comes to mind but it's very important to avoid having your posts appear spammy to the algorithm! I'd say leave the hashtags in the previous posts and simply start mixing up from now on (which I'm sure you have at this point! 😉). I know there are some tactics out there that tell you to remove hashtags from your previous post when you're about to post a new one but I've not tested this theory yet. In any case, at this point it would be a lot of work for you which won't matter too much to Instagram and you could spend that time developing more amazing content! :)

Very good tips, thank you. Jack Gordon did an analysis where he suggests that hashtags don't make any difference at all. The only things that matter are how often you post and using the types of posts that IG is pushing (Reels). What are your thoughts on the data? It's only big accounts that don't need hashtags? Have you done any analysis on this?
@NataliaKalinska3 жыл бұрын
I find that hashtags can still make a difference and I've seen them work personally on some of the accounts I managed in the past. However, as I say in the video, they are not the make or break of your profile and are definitely not the culprit when someone doesn't grow on Instagram. It's a more complicated system than that. I think hashtags are still valid because they inform Instagram about the type of content you post so that the algorithms can push your posts to people who may be interested in your content. Yes, consistency is much more important and Reels will help you grow but that's not a reason to completely ditch hashtags. That's my take on it 😊

Hi, do you have any tips for creating a hashtag strategy for LinkedIn and twitter?
@shannonmacleod87033 жыл бұрын
I just found your channel and am loving your great advice! I had heard that when using hashtags on Reels, you should only use 8-10. Why do people recommend less hashtags than what IG will allow, and what do you think of this advice? Thanks so much! 😊
@NataliaKalinska3 жыл бұрын
Happy to have you here, Shannon! 🙌 I think the whole 8-10 hashtags approach stems from a few different things. Firstly, Reels are a format that’s pretty much the reflection of TikTok, and since videos there are tagged with only a few hashtags, it’s a bit of a transfer of practices to IG Reels. Secondly, because how Reels are displayed on a screen, the caption area is relatively small so adding all 30 in the caption may not be as polished to some viewers. Also, Reels have such a great algorithm and are promoted by Instagram to such extent that it’s easier to get discovered with them than with regular posts or videos. After all, they have a dedicated place on the Explore page and are pushed by Instagram a lot. And since it’s easier to reach new accounts with them, then hashtags play a smaller role in terms of discoverability here. Hence the lower amount of hashtags recommended by some. Then, there will always be people who’ve found something that’s working for them specifically and they share it - which is completely normal and great (heck, I’m doing it here too! 😉) but what worked for one account may not work for everyone. These tips like to be perpetuated then 😉 There will be big accounts not using hashtags at all which they can afford to do given the traffic they get normally. There will be people who added 10 hashtags and scored well with them so they keep doing this and it might be that the 10 hashtags they’re using are the perfect ones for their niche, their profile etc. But it all depends on the engagement they normally get, what other things they do to promote their content, how active they are and how much they engage with others… So to say “use X hashtags” is a very simplistic advice for a very complex problem. In my opinion, ultimately if Instagram allows 30 hashtags, I use 30. If you look through some popular Reels on the explore page, you’ll find a variety but many people will still use 30. I think with how elusive hashtags can be, it’s better to use 30 and increase your chances of ranking with some of them than use 8 and have one work. Hope that makes sense, Shannon! 😉 PS. I hope the essay is not too overwhelming - I could talk about these things for hours 😅

Quick question: I want to create my brand hashtag without Instagram placing it as banned. How do I do that?
@NataliaKalinska3 жыл бұрын
As long as the hashtag itself doesn’t go against any community guidelines and doesn’t regularly contain spammy content, there’s very little risk that Instagram bans it. Hope it helps, Chiamaka!

@NataliaKalinska3 жыл бұрын
You can search for it on Instagram. If you can't see the "recent" tab or it says the recent posts have been hidden, that's a sure way to know. It may not say it though if you're on iPhone, but the lack of the recent tab is usually the indicator.

If i use the same hashtags for every post, will my content be penalized by the algorithm?
@NataliaKalinska3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it may look very repetitive to the algorithm or even be marked as spam. This way, your posts may be downgraded by the algorithm or not show up in the hashtags etc. I would definitely not use the same ones over and over again.
