I'm so so glad u spoke about how frustrating dating can be. I was talking to a guy for 2 weeks, we only texted cause he was out of the country for work for 10 days. I REALLYYY liked him, he was sweet and funny and smart and I could really see myself dating this man. But all of a sudden a couple of days ago he became very condescending and rude and when I confronted him about it he just gaslit me and now we're no longer talking. I feel so sad and disappointed. I'm tired

the eyes are stunning! I know dating apps are convenient because ppl are so busy, but they ick me out. if you live i near a larger city I recommend going to trivia nights, join a book club, go to yoga in the park, sign up for a kickball/softball league, take a class in something that interests you, ect. Id rather be living & enjoying my life than talking to randos on an app. You're also more likely to meet someone who shares your interests or make new friends which will enhance your social circle, and increases your chances of meeting someone.

I went on a Tinder date with a guy back in the day, maybe like 8 years ago? We were having a few beers and talking, and I thought it was going pretty well. After his 3rd beer he starts getting *honest*. He told me he is engaged, but that his fiancée went on a date behind his back, and they decided he could go on one too to “even them out”. WHAT THE F?! Men in their 20s, I cannot. I ended up meeting a guy 7 years older than me and married him 😅

Thank you for speaking up about how hard dating is! I really relate to what you said. Also the light thing you did while talking about red flags was great 💛 I haven't dated in 12 years, not even one guy has asked me out either. I rarely got asked out before I stopped dating. I would literally watch guys hit on my friends, even the married ones, meanwhile no guys hit on me. It made me feel like I was the ugly step sister or like there was something wrong with me. I got sick of always being asked for nudes or sex, it wasn't just on dating apps either, it was also on social media & through texting, etc. Dating is so frustrating and I have enough to deal with in my life so I'd rather not deal with jerks who want nudes. I just want to be happy and enjoy life so unless some guy comes along who adds joy to my life instead of stress and/or heartbreak, I would rather stay single than deal with someone who makes me unhappy. Not dating has given me the chance to focus on raising my son & work on healing my trauma PTSD. I also got to spend almost 6 years with the best dog who helped me heal so much trauma and taught me to finally see I was worthy of unconditional love so I wouldn't trade those years for anything in the world.

Thanks for telling your story. Meeting men through an app is like a magic hat, you can get a cute rabbit or a cockroach. I met my current partner via chat 15 years ago and we are still together. I got to talk to someone after a party full of frustrations and after discarding many people who had nothing to contribute, I met someone really authentic who understood me and felt the same lacks that I did at that moment, we both wanted to find love and someone unique and true, and we did not stop talking until the next day, then we met, we connected and until this moment we have not separated and we are happy together. 🥰

The one guy I let get a little close to me, met me once, then was texting me constantly, then got jealous when I socialized with my friends, male and female. Nope, nope, nopitty, nope!! GIRL i don't normally comment but i'm a viewer of yours and our dating experiences are so similar LOL it makes me laugh every single time you tell a story bc i've been thru it, no matter how oddly specific it is. like down to meeting a correctional officer online who worked at a jail and getting freaked out🙅♀. In my experience the correctional officer i was seeing had a fling/girlfriend/idk what title they had, the entire time (i didn't know this until i came across her profile, and they're still together now lol) not to generalize but just overall bad news. And not to project my feelings AT ALL but I remember how insecure, sad and alone i felt. You dodged a bullet and just know that you deserve much better

Hi Julia! If you see this, I’m the one who consistently reminds you that I am old enough to be your mom and yet I have learned so much from you. Makeup for me growing up was just going to the drugstore and grabbing Maybelline blue eyeshadow and putting too much on, completely clueless. Nobody talked about it in my world in the artistic way that you do so thank you. Plus I just think you’re adorable and funny and very real. Which brings me to my point… In my 50s I can tell you that the nonsense doesn’t stop. Which is one of the many reasons I’m taking a break from dating right now. I just moved, I’m changing jobs, way too much going on. But let me just say that I had a blog about dating in my 40s because that’s how many stories I had. Hang in. You’re at the age to have fun; just be safe and careful like you obviously are. You’re ahead of the game to recognize red flags as quickly as you did. Sending you love! (You do make us proud, btw!) 🤎💕 PS if anyone else reads this, I was married for years and I have a wonderful 21 year old son. So this is not a sympathy grab. I love being single right now!!

I would love to see you use really glittery shade like the pat McGrath one with like the nyx glitter primer under it or some sort of sticky primer. It would help keep any glitters from falling onto the “shelf” 😂 and would also just make them pop even more. I always thought they didn’t make a difference but they really do and ever since I figured that out I don’t apply ANY shimmer or glittery shade without some sort of base underneath. Also, it would make it so the chrome flakes didn’t lift off the pat McGrath shade under it. But anyways, I absolutely love your videos and I’m seriously OBSESSSSSSED with this look! I want to recreate it so bad but I’m not great at eyeshadow and blending, but I’m going to have to try this one! In love! 😍 xoxoxoxoxx hope your doing well ❤

I’ve been off dating apps for a couple of years now because of the exact reasons you said. It’s the same guys and the same let downs. I used to use Snapchat more but I’m at an age now where men I’m dating should NOT be using that app for dating so if someone asks for my snap or adds me there, it’s an immediate red flag for me too. I’m glad that you’ve been hopeful (despite this last experience) and continue to try because I’ve become completely hopeless lol I seriously commend you. Having an open mind is so important. Any dates that I’ve gone on more recently are through setups from friends and family. Even though those dates aren’t that much better, I feel a little better about knowing I can blame said friends and family for the bad match up 🤣🤣 (Kidding 🤷🏻♀️😉)

Online dating is extremely frustrating. Men are either over zealous and come on too strong or are completely emotionally unavailable. I've had so many creeps who I thought were nice send pics (you know the ones) as soon as I feel comfortable enough to give my number. Or ask for pics from me... You aren't alone 😘 You're a talented, smart lady and I'm sure there is someone that deserves you out there. ❤️

thank you so much for speaking about how stressful dating is! I matched some guy on Tinder and hit it right off like I’m talking sarcasm and humour was on point. We texted for a week around the clock and really got to know each other. He even texted with hearts and stuff which was kinda weird to me but whatever nice to know a guy that shows affection I thought. So after a week we went on a date. First date with someone I met online for me. First tinder date. First date in a LONG time. So I get there and he was late so I kinda walked around a bit and then he arrived but didn’t see me. And when I tell you THE SECOND I saw him especially the way he walked I knew it wasn’t going to work out and dreaded the date. It was something about his walk I knew right away what his personality was. And the date was horrible. He was sooo low-key misogynistic in a very underlying way always blaming his relationship problems on women and giving these compliments that bring other women down (I’m glad you don’t wear that much makeup; you’re the first smart women I met on Tinder) like I wanted to throw up right there. Had to set down for a picnic and dinner. Cherry on top was him just taking some of my fries without asking & not washing or disinfecting his hands first!! Major red flag lol😂 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

As the only social media available when my wife and I met approximately 42,000 years ago (aka 2003, before getting together in 2004) was the Yahoo!Group we chatted on, I’ll share one of the funniest moments of our almost 20 years together: I was diagnosed with an aggressive blood clotting disorder shortly after we started dating, and have been hospitalized a whole buttload of times. During one of those stays, a nurse was convinced my wife - who is ten years older - was my daughter. I WAS IN MY MID-TWENTIES. Way to kick a sick girl while she’s down, lady! My wife still preens about it to this day. So marriage ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. 😉 This makeup look is, though, so thank you for being you, sweet Julia. ❤️
