That went surprisingly smoothly for you! No project I ever do on the car gos that smoothly. Not even changing the oil. The filter gets stuck and you have to shove a screwdriver through it which then leaks oil all over the garage floor even though there's a pan underneath it because the Earth's gravitational pull has a special relationship with flowing oil. It will make a 90-degree Bend not to hit the pan.

Man, I had an idler seiza up on my Mercedes E350, about 2hours out of town. I had no idea it was noisy, because some modern cars are too insulated. The belt melted, and the irony was that I was on my way to pick up a friend who's truck had broken down on the way back from his mother-in-law's place. The lesson I learned is never help people. Lol! No, of course that wasn't the lesson, but rather don't assume your car will allow you to hear problems. Anyway, it's 630 am, and I'm rambling. Have a great weekend!

I thinks there’s an adapter that you can buy that will allow this!
@LunaErosStudios Жыл бұрын
Hopefully you still monitor your old videos because I have a question. It was very short because of your editing but I did notice the old radio you pulled out was a stock Ford FULL DEPTH double DIN unit, so...... What year is your Marquis? Because from what I understood is that all the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis used an multiple depth unit that was angled because of the HVAC ducting Ford put in under the dash at the top came halfway to the front of the dash. That's one of the reasons the new aftermarket units are only an inch or two deep. If it wasn't needed in some years of at least the Marquis I want to look into which years. Maybe those years used different ducting that can be used in other year cars.
@OldeCarrGuy Жыл бұрын
My Marquis was a 2004. But I think the biggest reason the aftermarket radio is so thin is the lack of cd player. It’s all digital! Not specific to these cars!
@LunaErosStudios Жыл бұрын
@@OldeCarrGuy Thanks. I was more curious about the old stock one because most of the time the stock radios are not full DIN depth on the top of the radio and the bottom. Usually the top is almost as short as your aftermarket one and the radio is angled in depth to full size on the bottom. Now I'm gonna look in to the radios and vent ducting on the older ones.

How does the radio mount into the dash? Whose mounting kit did you use? I've had that radio for three years and it only sits in the dash. It is tall enough to fix properly but not wide enough. The dash needs to have removed from it some flanges that help hold the original radio in place. .... You certainly left out of your video some very interesting required finishing steps.

I would like to know if there is a dash kit that isn't almost impossible to remove once installed? Thanks for the reply olde car guy.. What would your personal ballpark value estimate be for a 1996 Grand Marquis. Car is in all original condition with the dark red exterior, dark red cloth interior. Mileage is 89,000 original miles.. Car is spotless with absolute zero rust. Engine runs like a top and is clean enough to eat off of. No known leaks of any kind. Beautiful car that's only been driven in summer time.
@dankolbenschlag21883 жыл бұрын
The only thing outside of the stereo button issue is , if the car sits for several weeks at a time with the battery posts connected, the battery will be drained after a few weeks. If posts are disconnected during g the same time period, the battery is fine. Not sure what this issue is. And this is on a fairly new battery

@@dankolbenschlag2188 There are so many different variables as selling markets Can be quite a difference between Canada and the US, However if the car is as clean as you say it is my best guess would be somewhere in the $4-5000 range.

I've been using 6.5 quarts of Mobil 1 10w30 and a M1-210a oil filter for many thousands of miles. That 5w20 dish water is only recommended for epa estimated fuel economy ratings, not longevity. The high quality oil filters have an anti drain back valve to help prevent the oil pump from losing its prime and that's crucial on these engines because the timing chain tensioners break when there's slack in the chains and they bang into the plastic tensioners when started. Very common on a jiffy lube panther. $22.88 for 5 quarts of Mobil one at Wallace Mart and 9.99 for the filter.
@OldeCarrGuy5 жыл бұрын
Panther Platform yes! I switched to Mobile 1 on the old Doba and a Wix filter so I’ll likely do the same on GrandMa! Small price to pay for longevity!
@pantherplatform5 жыл бұрын
@@OldeCarrGuy that's cool. Can't go wrong with that. As long as it's synthetic and a decent filter. You can tell a car that's been to jiffy lube because oil is seeping out of everything and is everywhere. My 215k mile Grand Marquis doesn't leak, drip, or burn a drop. It's all about the oil.

Hey Jason, Quick question; Do you know how to deactivate the horn chip when locking the car with the remote key fob? There's a procedure on page 76 in my owners manual for my 2004 Crown Vic, but my 2010 Grand Marquis fails to mention a procedure. I tried the procedure for the 2004, on the 2010 and it goes into programming mode because I get the lock/unlock confirmation. But I still can't deactivate the horn chirp, when locking the car with the remote key fob. I usually like the audible confirmation when locking up the car, but not when I come home at 3AM trying to be quiet. lol Worse case scenario, maybe I'll install take the WJ Handy Dad route, and install a bypass switch on the ground wire of the horn.
