Really enjoy your videos!.. ready for some longer ones from start to finish.. job looked great as usual!
@DirtAndRocks Жыл бұрын
Yeah I can see making some longer ones in the future. I am currently trying several different lengths like 5,8,10,15, and 20 to see which ones do the best. Jury is still out. Longer vids are much easier for me to edit/produce, so part of me hopes those do better :)

Great video! Thanks for showing the steps and pointing out different way to accomplish the steps. How many tons of gravel, do you think?

Neighborhood of 40 I think.

Great little video, so helpful as I am trying to get a grasp on my project. My driveway is about 4,000ft, so. it would take me about 60 hours. Would you do it differently for this long a driveway ?
@DirtAndRocks2 ай бұрын
I might be looking at cutting it in with a dozer on a project like that. It really just depends on how the land lays and how much dirt you need to move. At the very least, I would use a larger excavator to move the dirt much faster.

I am guessing around 40ish. I loaded up 6 times but they were not super full loads.

Nice job, how do you like uour roller for the skid stear, any problems, make and model. Thank you.
@DirtAndRocks5 ай бұрын
Thanks! I really like the roller. It is a 72 inch smooth drum, and I got it from Spartan equipment. I have had no issues with it thus far. My only complaint is that it is a little tricky to hook up to the machine because if you curl out the bucket cylinders too much, the locking handles for the coupler interfere with the roller's coupler. But once I got used to it, it was fine. Thanks so much for watching!

@@DirtAndRocks thanks for the info. All are dogs were found along side the road as puppies or we got them from the pound. They are family, so I'm right there with you on scumbag people that mistreat animals.

How much was the total cost. Thanks
@DirtAndRocks2 ай бұрын
This was part of a larger project. I didn't quote it separately. I think it was about 9 hours of machine time, and 4 hours trucking time. The client already had the gravel stockpiled on site. Thanks for watching!

Instead of a roller could you use a plate tamp say if you didn’t have a big driveway or road to do?
@DirtAndRocks11 ай бұрын
Yes, it is certainly going to be better than doing nothing. Depending on how thick you are planning to lay it, you might consider compacting in 4-6 inch lifts so that it is getting compacted all the way down

How did you establish a crown on the driveway?
@DirtAndRocks Жыл бұрын
the land had a natural slope from right to left, and we had built a drainage ditch on the low side earlier the in the project. This road was running along the crest of a slope, so I just matched the crest and let the water run to the ditch. If I had done a traditional crown, I would have had to build a way to drain water on the high side too. Since it was only a 9 foot drive, I opted to just slope it all to the ditch. Thanks for watching!
