Thinking about doing this, but I wanted to know how the sound quality is. I’m afraid that a majority of the sounds will escape through the ceiling and not be directed downward. I’m thinking of placing a plastic bowl over the mount to direct the sound. What do you think?
@thinkreno2 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing but I’m happy with the sound. But the bowl idea might make it sound better, or adding a bit of insulation in the cavity above the echo

@@thinkreno yeah that’s a great idea. Thanks for the reply.

Such a clever idea. Did it improve the acoustics as you anticipated?

Would you do this with other smart speakers, like the google mini?

You bet. Same idea

Amazing idea, thank you! Wouldn't work for me rn though, my echo dot has to be power cycled and reconnected to wifi at least once a week 😒
@thinkreno3 жыл бұрын
You can pick up a new dot pretty cheaply when they go on sale, which seems to be all the time!

How does that sound upstairs?
@thinkreno2 жыл бұрын
They’re small speakers with no bass, so you hardly hear them upstairs

@@thinkreno good to know, thanks! I have an array of Echo Dots and plain Echos throughout the house that I use for music mainly.
@Maxlazona3 жыл бұрын
Wow dude, what kind of a house do you have where you would cut a hole in your ceiling to install a 3rd gen Echo dot? Let’s create a fund so you can maybe get an get a quality WiFi speaker or something better?
@thinkreno3 жыл бұрын
The point of it was for music but also to be able to voice control all the smart switches in the house. I have 49 switches I can control with voice, but only if an echo can hear me. It’s a lot cleaner to have them hiding in the ceiling than have them plugged in everywhere
