Why did you install a GFCI outlet down stream from a GFCI? Because it came with the kit?
@HomeRapidRepair2 ай бұрын
Oh you caught that. Yes because it came with the product and made for a good demonstration video because most people will need the GFCI outlet for exterior install. Thanks for watching 😊🏠

Thank you for the great video and the tips on the horizontal install, you made it look so easy - I'm finally going to do it myself.

HEY. You got the cover upside down. Shouldn't the cord slot be on the bottom so the rain doesn't get in.

You might be right. I’ll have to re-watch the video to refresh my memory. Thanks for watching 👍🏼🛠️

Why did you add them both to the line side?
@HomeRapidRepair2 күн бұрын
Already had a GFCI outlet didn’t need 2 both protected. Just wanted to use GFCI exterior outlet for the video. Thanks for watching

Doesn't it require conduit running to a junction box inside by code?

Not in my area. Romex wiring in a wall stud cavity is perfect 👍🏼⚡️

I have a really nice exterior outlet. But it has standoffs of 1/8" or so. I am thinking silicone will do it.

What size bit was that for the hole

If I remember correctly 5/8 inch hole. You can go up to 3/4 inch if you want to. Thanks for watching.

So you put two GFI’s in line?? Why. ?
@HomeRapidRepair6 күн бұрын
Already had one in the garage…I really wanted this demonstration video of exterior GFCI outlets. Since I connected the new outlet to the line side and not the load side of the garage GFCI they will function independently. Thanks for watching 😊⚡️⚡️

Great video, thank you. Is there any reason you ignored the upper connections of the internal outlet, seems it would have been safer as you were working with live wires? I also understood, safer to connect ground first, then neutral and hot last. There again, I am not an electrician, just picking your brain.
@HomeRapidRepair2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comments. All your points are valid. The ground first, then neutral, and then last hot wires is best practice. For sure if you were working on serious voltages, etc. Simple residential wiring is only 120 volts and isn't honestly that big of a deal... In my humble opinion. I've been around this stuff my whole life LOL

Did you state that you are a licensed electrician for 24 years? Razor blading Romex like that can damage the inner wire insulation. They make Romex strippers for under $10, even I have one. I also saw that you stripped too much insulation off from the neutral wire on the inside box leaving wire exposed. I am still trying to figure out which region calls for 2 GFCI's in line, seems redundant. Not sure what to say about using Ryobi either, they are a good starter tool but do not last too long in heavy trades.
@HomeRapidRepair24 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching. Yeah I own many businesses. Eventually I want to show the Romex wire stripper on my channel for people. There are not two GFCI‘s in line because we tapped into the line side of the first outlet not the downstream load side. These are just simple demonstration videos to give homeowners more confidence in their repairs and help people out. Thank you so much for watching.

Not sure why you needed 2 GFCI's.
@HomeRapidRepair28 күн бұрын
You’re right you don’t. It was just a demonstration video and I tapped off of the closest source. I also tapped off of the line side, not the GFCI protected side. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏼

In Canada, exterior receptacle has to be on its own circuit. Also: that's not a 10-minute installation. Theh video itself is nearly 10 minutes and it's heavily edited. So why use a clickbait headline?
@HomeRapidRepair8 күн бұрын
Thanks for the info about Canada, I appreciate it. I would say it’s not clickbait at all…it’s just being smart to be positive and try and be useful to people 👍🏼😊
@grahamwellington65564 күн бұрын
Partly true. You need at least one outdoor receptacle on its own circuit. Any additional outlets can be added to existing circuits.
@jamescole315228 күн бұрын
Not really the way to strip romex.
