Thanks for the great, straight-forward, video. Quick recommendation for controlling the launchers, you can press the Steam button, go to the controller, and switch the the "Web Browser" mapping template, it makes it a bit easier to control the launchers, no need to hold Steam for mouse and other controls.

Yea I'd like this too! I've done quite a bit of searching but can't find a solution. NonSteamLaunchers now automatically adds icons to Steam (no BoilR required) for Epic, Ubisoft, EA and GOG, with the promise of more launchers to be supported soon. It would be great if Rockstar could be included, but I think this would be difficult as there isn't even a manual solution at the moment!

Hi, great question! I believe that Heroic is limited to Epic, Amazon and GOG, whereas NonSteamLaunchers includes more options. I've had issues with Heroic where it hasn't synced my save data to the cloud, and I've lost hours of progress! Heroic also logs me out of my Epic account quite frequently, no idea why, but my library disappears until I log back in, which is what prompted me to look into alternative options. So personally, I prefer NonSteamLaunchers. I'm sure many use Heroic without issue, so that's just my personal experience and opinion. Thanks for watching 🙌

Hi, that's strange I've not seen that before! I've posted a new video today which lets you install the launchers using a Decky plugin as an alternative method. It's really simple so it may be worth giving this a go! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOoq5WBoMeGZ7Msi=DYT5WQzinJJYpRlp There is a "Start Fresh" button you can select in the Decky plugin, so I would suggest selecting that before installing Epic again, just to make sure you get a clean install. Be aware that as the name suggests, the "Start Fresh" option will wipe any non-Steam launchers (and associated games) you've already installed. Good luck ✌🏻

Hi. As far as I know, the only way to get EA anti cheat working on the Steam Deck at the moment is to install Windows. There are plenty of guides out there to do this, but it's quite a bit of effort for a single game! There are talks of Valve adding official dual boot support to Steam Deck, which would simplify the process but this has been in the pipeline for a while. Hopefully EA will add Linux support for anti cheat, but I have no idea if this is planned. Sorry, I know it's not the answer you wanted to hear!

Hi, thanks for watching! I have not seen that error for any of the games I've played on Epic, and I only have Hogwarts Legacy on Steam so I can't test! Does it give you the option to install it? Or is it just an error saying it's missing?

I've done some digging online, and it appears to be a known error with Hogwarts Legacy through Epic. The fix is to manually install C++, but as the Steam Deck uses Linux/proton we'll have get creative! Give this a go: 1 - In desktop mode, download the package you need which should be aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe 2 - Still in desktop mode, open steam > right click Hogwarts Legacy > Properties 3 - Copy the text in the "target" field as you'll need to change it back later. Select browse (next to target) and point it to the vc_redist.x64.exe file you downloaded. Close the Properties window. 4 - Still in desktop mode, run the game and it should run the installer for C++. Complete the install. 5 - Change the "target" on the Hogwarts Legacy back to what it was before, switch back to game mode and try running the game. I've tested as far as running the C++ installer, but as I don't have the game/error I've not been able to verify 100%. Let me know how it goes! Good luck! 🤞

Hello! Which launcher are you trying to get working, or are you seeing this issue with all of them? As a test, do the games open if you try via the launcher? e.g. open epic games, and play from there?

Hi, I think this may be a bug with BoilR where it doesn't create Ubisoft shortcuts correctly. In Steam try editing the game shortcut and updating the launch parameters to: uplay://launch/*gameID*/0 You can get the Game IDs from here: github.com/Haoose/UPLAY_GAME_ID

Hi. Is it BOILR that hangs or the NonSteamLaunchers script? Try completely exiting Steam during the setup i.e. right click the icon by the clock at the bottom right and exit.

Hi , thanks for watching! Try this... In the file explorer (dolphin), click the hamburger menu on the right, then go to -> Configure -> Configure Dolphin -> General -> Confirmations. At the bottom, change the option "When opening an executable file" to either "Always Ask" or "Always Run". Select OK and try again. Let me know how it goes!

logging in via steam worked like a charm, pretty obvious in hindsight lol but now im unable to sign in to any of the other launchers due to the same problem, ex GOG

Hi, thanks for watching! I did some quick testing last night playing with different shortcuts and proton versions but I couldn't get Fall Guys working, sorry! There is some chat on Reddit about changing ini files, but these posts are old and it seems to break after every update, so I didn't spend too much time on that. Anti-cheat just doesn't seem to play nice with Linux, it's the same for FIFA in the EA Launcher. If you really want to play, you could consider installing Windows in a dual boot setup. A bit of a faff, but I plan to post a simple guide for this soon!

Hi, thanks for watching! Did BoilR detect the game? If so it'll need ticking and importing into steam. If you can't get it to detect the game, you may just load the launcher in game mode (assuming battle.net?) and open it from there. Not ideal but it hopefully it'll do as a workaround! Let me know how you get on. I don't have Diablo 2 to test but I could perhaps try with Overwatch.

Hi. There may be a way to point Epic to the Heroic library, or copy the files over, but the folder structure may be different. If it was me I'd just reinstall the game in Epic and uninstall from Heroic. Just keep your save files in mind, I believe Heroic does have the option to sync to the cloud but I've not tested this myself. Thanks for watching!

I tested to move installed games to epic games folder. and it work. here's the step 1. download your game 2. let epic create folder for that game 3. cancel the download form epic launcher 4. copy-paste all content from heroic to epic 5. download your game again(now it should be just verifying files)

See with the non steam games that have been downloaded via these launchers, can you move them to a SD card?

Hi. This will depend on the launcher you're using. For Epic, you'd need to navigate to your SD card in desktop mode by using the file explorer and selecting it under "Removable Devices" at the bottom. Create a new folder (e.g. "Epic"). Then when you install the game in Epic, select "browse" and select the E:\ drive (it's emulating Windows storage). This will probably work in a similar way for the other launchers, it's just a case of selecting a folder on the SD card when installing each game. As for moving games once they're already installed, that will depend if the launcher has the option to. If it does, select the folder on the E:\ drive when you do.

It's also worth mentioning that you can also move games by re-running NonSteamLaunchers.desktop and selecting "Move to SD Card". I believe that this will move ALL games for the launcher you select, and I can't see an obvious way to move them back if needed.

Valorant is on Epic isn't it? I've not played it myself, but if it makes use of anti cheat then it may not work. Anti cheat doesn't play nice with Linux 😒 hopefully that'll change one day.
