PERFECT PRESENTATION DESIGN: no talking, no video of anything that is not necessary (like someone standing in front of the camera talking), and excellent fast-speed of the video. Many how-to video makers fail to realize that seeing the actual process is valuable but a lot of talking is not valuable. It's the old saying "a picture is worth 1000 words" You could stand in front of a video camera and explain how to grab two thin ropes, explain that you need to overlap the two thin ropes in 2 different ways, but all that talking can be edited out of the video - if the video instead SHOWS tying a shoe. "Don't use words to explain how to tie a shoe. No one will be able to tie a shoe from verbal instruction. SHOW THE PROCESS. Then everyone will be able to tie a shoe." Far too many videos talk, talk, talk. Instead, SHOW. You have excellent video skills - thanks for the great instruction!

Looks good. Tip: You want to scuff up/sand that wall before applying mastic. Better to have a rough surface for it to grab onto.

I followed your video and other one from two ladies. Your oen was more helpful but the other one was also helped a lot. You style made it easier with 5 electric points and switches I had. I also had different sizes cabinets and it was much more difficult as I initially anticipated. But your video was super helpful. My biggest mistake was to use the wet tile saw rented from Home Depot. It made my life little easier but broke the small glass pieces. i should have bought one of those tile cutters u used and those were cheaper than the tile cutter. So little advice to the future DIYers. Don't expect this to be super easy if you are a novice like me. It took me 6 hours in one day and another two hours next day to cut and place the tiles nicely. I did 1st small batch grout myself and it took forever. Then my wife came back and helped me for the larger part and it was easy.

home depot has some great glass and aluminum tile . i went with a tile called MADISON AVE . $15 a foot sheet . need either table wet saw or a hand held cutter and the scoring tool like this person used .

@Wizzykin the manual tile cutters are very easy to use and laying the tile is even easier. Just practice on some scrap to get the feel for the cutter but it's easy

I recommend the 24 in it's not much more in price but helps allot with being able to do large or small tiles, as I've had multiple jobs now with the 24 x12 or 24x24 sizes and my either 14 or 18 inch cutter doesn't work.

what size of v trowel did you use on this project? I plan to install stone and glass mosaic tiles (similar to the style you installed) on laminate backsplash, is 1/8" v trowel OK or other size? Because it is laminate, it is less absorbent. Will sanding it with 80 grit orbit grinder good enough to ensure rough surface? Thanks.

Tiles are not straight. Should have screwed in a piece of plywood between the bottom edge of the counter in the back of the stove and laid all the tiles in a straight line. Better would have been to use a laser level. Also need a diamond file after cutting the tiles. This is a way to do the job, but certainly not the right way.

everyone's complimenting this guys work??? would you actually hire him to do work for you? hmmm!! i must be the only person to see his mistakes, i mean right above the outlet his tiles joins are pointing down and towards each other like an arrow pointing downwards,, not to mention the outlets are sideways? finally his tiles are not in line , you need to have them perfectly in line and not zig zagging, wheres his level ? or his spacers? the shoddiest work ive seen in awhile, i would'nt have posted that crap for the whole world to see, imn sorry , but it had to be said. i woul'nt be proud.

Two questions: After placing the tiles, how long am I supposed to wait to start grouting the joints? & Can i pass the sponge as soon as I'm done or should I wait a min.? Anyone?! Most appreciated.

Wait till next day for grouting and then let it dry for about 5mins then first pass clean in a circular motion not back and forth let it dry itll become opaque then clean it again with clean water but this time pass the sponge in one sweep motion one side of the sponge then the other side thats clean in the same spot then let it dry and just wipe it with the clean towel and your good to go

Need to be careful of washing grout down your drains. It can set! I always use a bowl for the water and throw away afterwards. I had the misfortune of a neighbour doing tiling for the first time that ended with my drain being blocked solid....

We're on a septic system, but honestly, people on sewer systems should follow the 'Three P Rule': only things down the drain are Poo, Pee, and toilet Paper. Everything else gets evaporated in a shallow baking pan in the sun, and the solids go out with the trash.

Great work !! How did you move your electrical outlets out to be flush with the tile?

You have to use a goof ring & long 6-32 screws for it bro. By code, you’re supposed to use a goof ring anyways if the box is recessed by a 1/4”. There’s also a trick where you can take a piece of 12 or 14 copper wire & coil it around the top & bottom fastening screws for the receptacle to its box. You have to be careful not to use too many coils or the receptacle will protrude, & you’ll have to lessen the coils. Start with maybe 4 or 5 coils, or you can purchase what we refer to as caterpillars, which serve the same purpose but they’re plastic. Either way is completely safe. that’s just a little trick from the trade.

I thought the exact same thing. I have never personally hung that style of tile, i would imagine that it would be difficult to keep them all straight and level considering the movement in the mesh and the gaps between each piece. I did notice where there were some not level.

I see people installing tile on the existing granite backsplash. My tile guy did the same thing but what he should have done was removed the granite backsplash then installed the tile directly onto the countertop. Now I have have to all his work removed and applied it right. $$$$$$$$$

Looks good but looks are deceiving! You never use organic adhesive to install glass tiles ! It is recommended to use a glass tiles mortar to avoid issues

@@michaelmcgee2026 yes thats what they say but perhaps its more towards the old yellow type mastic used years ago ? now most mastics are really white like thinset so i dont think it casts any funny colors thru and with the nice white backings on glass im not sold on bleeding. the only time i use mastic is on backsplashes and if used , its going to stick fine imo, but its better to stick to manufacturers recommendations in the end
