Im currently dealing with a rodent that got into my hvac duct. I can see the pink insulation and thin chewed up plastic hose on my floor vents. I want to switch over to metal tubing so i find your vids helpful

@mrzif0013 I agree. The live traps catch mice like crazy. But when dealing with rodents you will eventually need to find where they are getting in otherwise it will never end.

I have two in the basement. This rooms ceiling is open, and there's a gap at the bottom of the door to allow air to return.

@Jasshands1 Yes, it's sufficient, but more returns are even better. If my ceiling was drywall, I would at least have added a vent above the door.

Somehow this video was pushed to my feed. Tbh you actually did a half decent job. My criticisms mainly are; the way you cut in your saddle was hilarious and you even go so far as to shoutout the guy who showed you the technique 3:15😂😅 if I saw you on site doing that I’d have you bending old copper all day. Use the step drill to create a hole like you did for the damper, then reds (or greens) around the opening. Leaving tabs if wanted. the most important issue though is your safety awareness, and really lack there of. I think if you are in the game of KZbin videos, and make mechanical/diy/ construction renovation. It’s your duty to practice and promote all proper PPE. When you are changing the placement of a damper, or really taking any perimeter pipe system apart. Gloves man gloves, the material will hurt you, it’s sharp metal. Who is to say the last guy who installed it didn’t cut like a can opener? Leaving unexpected man eaters eagerly awaiting just that. there will be a fastener pointed straight up securing the backside, you will cut yourself. And man. SAFETY GLASSES! how are you going to have a lesson on how to cut into perimeter, whip out your step drill and safety squint at your work as you drill your hole. Little razor sharp shards of metal will shoot about. Horrible coaching and example of form. Honestly though, not a terrible bit of trades work. If you were one of the new hires I’d get you in my crew forsure!

Thinking now maybe you don’t have access to red or green snips. The sheers you have would work fine for cutting in the saddles

Also the re working of your angle boot, while again actually being impressive, cutting and notching to reduce the opening. No way in hell a average Joe pulls that off
