I was grinning from beginning to end knowing you would be happy after the install. I was stunned when I first realized how magical the winglets work. They perform so well that none of my other bikes come close to the zero wind turbulence at highway speed. Adam, these winglets are the best kept secret out there. Suggestion... find a shim spacer to move the turn signal out 1/8 inch.

You could tell I wanted these to not work so I could save myself all of this money by returning them. I'm learning so much about BMW's Bagger versus TC differences though. I may know more about how the two bikes differ more than most salespeople at this point! I'll grab a spacer. Great tip!

Sadly, it really does. I can't in my right mind tell someone they have to spend $400 but they do work and I wish they were 1/4 the price. BMW is robbing us on this one more than usual.

By George they've done it! They being BMW and "it" being the Harley formula. Which is producing a high end touring bike that will require the buyer to spend additional money to make the bike right! But in the end it's worth!!! The take away for me is that I can now elimate the Bagger from consideration. Should I move on from my Gold Wing Valkyrie to the R-18 family, it will most defiantly be a Transcontinental! Another great video. TY

Thanks Nelson, anyone considering the bagger who ever plans a day of interstate riding and an overnighter, especially if they have a spouse who wants to join them must spring for the TransContinental. It's $2000 more and includes about $5,000 in extras that make it a fare more livable bike around town and on the open road. It's especially more valuable if you don't want to do your own wrenching. The TC comes fully loaded and needs nothing except a rider.

I kept the classic deluxe for 4 months, got tired of the head shake, and bought a new Transcon. Just smoooooth and beautiful. I found on the classic that putting arm across my chest stopped the helmet vibration. The wind that was causing the issue was coming VERTICALLY up my chest from below the classic windscreen. Crosswinds were worse. Just out with the BM club in 40-50ky winds and the TC hardly moves. The GS gang were having a hard time. Buy the knee airdeflectors and see what’s really smooth!

I'm on it. Going to grab some. The winglets do not rattle which is good but they are rubbing. A smidge gap on those signals will keep the two from touching. I have been riding the 701 about once every 2 weeks but just on tarmac. I have March Moto Madness coming up next month and I'll be doing the South Carolina Adventure Route on it in a few months. There are no dirt roads within 1 hour of my house so it just sits around.

I spent $830 to get the TC Aux lights turn signals, mounting bracket and wiring harness, didn't order the switch, too expensive and I have Clearwater Canopener,

helmet buffeting was my experience with test riding these bmw's and i can't stand that. what windshield is that? good to see the windshield and winglets did it for you. i wanted to 'build' a bike (bars and pipes) so i got a HD street glide. helmet buffeting was bad. to defeat that, tall windshield, lower fairings and winglets. that is what i had to do to make it ridable. really liked the idea of an r18, coming off a bmw rt, but i did not like the r18 and buffeting was the main reason.

This is a 7Jurock Windscreen and I’m happy with it. A little bit taller than stock but not as tall as the transcontinental windscreen.

Bmw do optional small indicators for the r18 series- would swapping to those solve the issue 🤔

I know of a few people who have done this and it works but you have to do some adaptation to wiring but also buy a few extra parts so it's quite expensive.

hey adam. if your close to florida. madstad engineering is looking for a r18 bagger ot t.c. to make a windshield. they make the best shields. maybe not the most stylish. You would have to leave it with them. youd get a free shield and we could all benefit from your sacrafice

Hi Miskini, the only issue is my rotator cuff shoulder surgery is on Wednesday. I can get the bike down there but I can't pick it up for 6-9 months.

@@AdamChandler86 gotch ya! bummer about the shoulder. Mt left rotator is due for a rebuild too. Im in same situation with the amount of money ive put into my bagger. I could have bought a t.c. for less than I put into it. Ive stopped counting. I see brand new t.c. for $19000.

Same, but I literally just spoke to a dealer this week and they said my bagger is only worth $14K so now it's a $5K upgrade. sigh. I'm just gonna be happy with what I have.

@@AdamChandler86 I’m with you. I’m generally happy with the bike. Obviously we all have the tft issues. I don’t plan on selling it for awhile. I also installed fork deflectors with the winglets. Definitely helps.

Installed Aero winglets and stock TC. Much better air management. Wondering if you have adjusted handlebar on 18B. I can see the bolts under speedo dash but no way to access it? Wanted to bring bars forward just to experience different riding posture.

I haven’t yet but I believe you can access them better if you pop off the TFT surround. It’s a few clips you just pull the surround it’ll pop out. Just be careful obviously. If not, there are a few videos here on how to take apart the entire upper front fairing…which takes a few hours.

Hi Roy, glad you got them! The spacer buffers are supposed to go between the winglets and teh body of the fairing when you screw them down. It keeps the two plastics from rubbing against each other.

Just purchased the winglets for my R18B was wondering what you did to solve the winglets touching the blinkers? Did you end up using some clear tape? Thanks

I just left it as is. It made a small mark on the blinkers over a few thousand miles but never caused damage or rubbed so deep to cause any issues. Tape would be enough to keep it from doing anything over many years.

I ended up doing nothing and it’s been fine. No spacers or trimming.

Why not run your D7 as turn signals at 10 percent brightness and remove the own signals?

Hi, the R18 phone mount is a Quad-Lock with both the Anti-Vibration & Wireless charging base. It’s quite strong and is a secure mount. About $200 all in for Case + Base + vibration damper + charger + USB dongle.

Hi Adam, its been a few months now and wondering if you came up with any mods on the winglets. I read where one guy used a grummel tool and ground it down. I can not get my self to do this to $400.00 parts.

fascicles for this one but they all come from BMW Parts in Jersey so www.shopbmwmotorcycles.com is probably where you should start then just buy from whatever dealer has them closer to you to save on shipping.
