Yes I believe you can install Windows on LXD virtual machines. Check out this post on the LXC discussion forums. discuss.linuxcontainers.org/t/how-to-run-a-windows-virtual-machine-on-lxd-on-linux/10397 FYI the LXD discussions have officially moved over to the Ubuntu forums, but the historical LXD posts still exist on the LXC forums.
