I've been interested in getting back into Linux so I got an older gen Thinkpad X1 Carbon. I was trying to figure out what to put on it, went for EndeavourOS + Hyprland via the ML4W dotfiles. damn i needed this, i dualboot but don't use linux that much, but when i do need it it's annoying to have to update a ton of packages at once on arch especially with my slow connection, getting your customization on fedora is a great thing

That would be very cool Only downside is ubuntu/debian are pretty far behind on the needed packages to run the current versions of Hyprland and all the tools. A recent change for example requires a much newer version of the C++ compiler.

Thanks again for the updates... Issues. 1. As mentioned earlier ml4w updates changed the nvim configuration and i have to reinstall lazyvim, happens again 2. Same with the sidebar i have to reinstall aylurs-gtk-shell-git Suggestion: Please change the style of the tooltip for the waybar icons as shadow & the font makes it difficult to read it clearly. Hope will help to improve ml4w hyprland.

Thanks for testing. But the nvim folder should be restored during the update. Are you using an automation? You can also add a file named PROTECTED into the nvim folder. Sidebar is working fine as well. Strange. I don’t like the tooltips neither honestly. Will check what I can do.

Your dot files are working fine. I have a question regarding wallpapers. There is an option for automatically cycling through wallpapers. But the rate of change is very fast, about 60s per wallpaper. I want to slow down the rate to about 5min per wallpaper. Which variable to change and in which file please?

Hi. I have tested only on Fedora 41 with gnome. But see no reasons why it wouldn’t work on KDE. Yes, I have tested on bare metal. The issue isn’t relsted to the dotfiles. Hyprland in the latest version release has an issue on VMs. But it’ll be fixed as far as I know for the upcoming release. When you’re on Arch you can easily downgrade as described here github.com/mylinuxforwork/dotfiles/wiki/Installation-in-a-KVM-virtual-machine#troubleshooting-for-hyprland-0452

For #2, are you referring to passthrough? If so, you will need to take extra care for which graphics card you are using for the guest, and configure Hyprland accordingly (AQ_DRM_DEVICES environment variable), as it may attempt to auto-select the one being used by the host, though this isn't really a Hyprland-specific issue, and could happen with any compositor. There is a section on the Hyprland wiki for "Mult-GPU" that will explain it better than I. Disregard if I am my assumption to your question is incorrect.

Just out of curiosity, is there a way to test-run this without messing up my existing configuration beyond just backing up my hyprland.conf? Beyond the fonts, I already have the dependencies installed and use them for my own config, was just curious if things like my kitty, hypridle, etc, etc config will also get stomped. I use a git repo for my dotfiles, so nothing I couldn't revert if so, but wondering what all I might have to transfer some custom config over to.

Probably not related but after upgrading to this version I can no longer start any of my apps from the CMD line. I.E. google-chrome as an example or cura, never start the app any longer. If add I add google as the preferred browser it does not start that way either. I use to just add google-chrome and it worked.
