Adam, Thanks for the video. I just purchased a Nolan N100-5 and installed the Cardo PackTalk. Just to expand on the placement of the Boom Mic. After removing the interior the two snap anchors in the polystyrene just screw in. Using just a Torx T20 you can unscrew them and remove the plastic liner panel. This gives you access to the interior of the shell easily. You can then velcor the Boom Mic to the shell and route the mic wire behind the chin strap and connect it to the cradle mic wire. I then notched the front of the plastic panel for the boom so it would lie flat. It ended up being quite simple once I figured out I could unscrew the interior panel. Good luck to you and anyone who watches this video and does this install.

Good to see that it could be done, thanks. This was a factor in deciding to buy this helmet. I have now done similar with slight mods. Compressing the ear pockets on the edges with fingers works well. I was able to push the speakers tightly in there without needing velcro to hold them in. I routed the cables outside and under the black plastic at the bottom and up inside the soft neck roll. This was easier and still very tidy. I mounted the Cardo unit about 3cm further forward covering about half the NCom pocket. The challenge with this is that there is a ridge that the top front corner will not adhere to. I fixed this by scoring the hard plastic on the outside of the mounting pad so it would bend along the ridge and follow the sharp contour, and then stick completely to the helmet. The set up in the video is fine, but with the comments about it being towards the back, I can confirm this can be successfully mounted further forward.

@Drew Chadwick: Can you please add a short video, with pictures (at least), on your channel, showing the result of your installation process? I have a Nolan N100-5 helmet as well and having the unit mounted so far back it's a no go for me. Thanks!

Great job! Thanks! I just bought this helmet along with Packtalk black for my wife, so she will be very pleased!

Good video, Thanks for making it. I am planning on installing a Sena EVO 20S. Where there is a will, there is a way. Having the cardo back that far is not an issue. It does look natural, and not as out of place as you might think

Thanks for watching. We’ve had this setup for about 2 years and it’s working really well.

Thanks for the video, it is great. We have Nolan N105 Plus helmets (BMW GS with TFT Display) both my wife and myself, and we still do not know if we should buy the original N-COM 901 or the Packtalck Bold. A very good motorcyclist (harley) friend keeps telling me to go Cardo, because is more friendly with other systems. However, the convenience of the N-Com system looks good. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

I have Nolan helmet and N-COM system, works perfect and is completly build in. Biggest down side of N-COM system is connecting to other systems, almost impossible.

What made you go with cardo over n-com??
@AdamChandler863 ай бұрын
It's actually because Compatibility between Sena / Cardo and N-Com doesn't work even though Sena makes N-Com. You can't pair them and have to use "universal intercom" My wife and I wanted to auto connect every time we start our headsets without having to re-pair manually every time. My shoei helmet didn't have an N-com option.

Did you put the speakers on top of the padding or underneath? I also have a Nolan helmet and if I follow the instructions from Cardo I should put the speakers underneath the padding and I'm afraid the sound will be impaired
@AdamChandler863 жыл бұрын
Underneath in our case. Heather hasn't complained that it isn't loud enough yet.

What a nightmare for mounting on this helmet. did you not like the N-com you had before?
@AdamChandler863 жыл бұрын
Nope. it wouldn't pair with the Sena even though Sena makes the N-Com. We'd take 2-5 minutes every ride pairing our helmets manually with "universal intercom" then she couldn't listen to music and talk to me and she'd get a call and it'd lose our pairings. It made road trips unbearable for communication.

What did you not like about the N-Com? Which model did you have?
@AdamChandler863 жыл бұрын
The N-Com hardware integration in the N100-5 was fantastic. We had whatever the 2nd best version was. These are made by Sena but pairing with a Sena was impossible. We want to put our helmets on and just ride and a Sena 10U + N-Com pairing was done as a 2nd mobile phone and it took like 10 minutes most days and it's every time we turn our helmets on so if we stop for lunch and one person turns their's off, we have to start all over again. So we've moved both helmets over to Cardo.

I have the packtalk slim and just bought an n100-5. Is there any hope to get it finagled in my n100-5?
@AdamChandler863 жыл бұрын
Yep, the Packtalk Bold fit well. I don't think you'll have an issue with the slim.

@@AdamChandler86 the damned plastic trim piece on the bottom is so huge. I am on the brink of cutting a slot in my brand new helmet with a dremel.

Agreed. you can use the sticky mount? I always take 'cutting' very seriously and as last resort. Good luck!

@@AdamChandler86 the Slim doesn't really have that option. And it is two parts. Looks very low key, when it fits, that is.

@@lovelessissimo I’m also in the process of trying to mount a Slim to my new n100-5. The battery shouldn’t be much of a problem but the unit itself is giving me some headaches. I was wondering what you decided to go with :)

How do you like the JBL speakers? I have an older Cardo and I have ended up switching to ear buds because I was having to turn the sound up so high.
@AdamChandler863 жыл бұрын
To be determined. This is Heather’s helmet and we won’t know until riding season resumes which for her will probably be July
@lovelessissimo3 жыл бұрын
I have had the JBLs for about a year. If you use earplugs, you have to turn the volume all the way up. But in that set up, they sound ok. I am considering an upgrade to third party speakers, though.
