You just showed me in 45 seconds, how the E-Brake brake cable runs and works ! That was extremely helpful. I've been studying picture diagrams online for weeks, and I just was not grasping how this works. I got it now !!!! WOW that was super helpful.

@@Gibson63. Hey, I was stuck and worried I was never gonna get past the mess I had. when you laid it out, like you did I was able to get past the hump. This was on a long box fleetside, still have it, It's a bit of a rat but I love it, makes me smile every time I drive it. Thanks again.

I'm totally a hands on guy and look at youtube videos on how to fix any and everything I own before hiring any work out. I have a 1970 chevy c10 that I'm in the process of restoring and the idea of using those (I) bolts is much better than the hardware that comes with the replacements. I've watched most of your videos but what I like the most is the tire and wheel combination because I'm still running the 6 lug pattern on my truck. I'm looking to go with the same setup as your truck, mine is a fleetside shortbed with a 4.5/6 drop and those ralley's will look great with that stance. Keep up the good work and in your famous words HERE WE GO!

That's on my list also I've been using a couple of short cut 2X4's roped together as my E-Brk it's getting old using them people ask me about them I just say it's my Fred Flintstone E-Brk LOL... But soon next summer I'm hoping to get the same kit God Willing... Glad to see you again Brother👍 must be a busy building season for you this summer? I've got to catch up on your other building videos there great but I dig the 63 C10 pick-up videos much more. Your Pops truck is still looking great... I've finally located my aluminum grill they want $200 for it it's missing the light bezzels but it's a good buy so God Willing I'll have it next week I'm really hoping I do it's been almost six years I've been trying to find a nice grill and just missed out on three nice ones bcuz other people got it before me but hopefully this one will be mine... Man your videos are great! I would have liked to seen how you hooked the cable on the lever in the drum
@deankay4434
@deankay4434 3 жыл бұрын
@Ronald Steveson > Ronald, with the trailing brake shoe removed, and lever exposed it is easy to install the cable ball crimp end. First, get a good set of pliers to fit the crimped end, next to it, place a pair of side cutters against the side of pliers. Squeeze the side cutters so they pass thru the spring, gently grabbing the cable (Don’t worry, it can’t cut) then as a fulcrum, pivot the side cutters & pliers together. This pulls the spring back, holding the side cutters, slide & hook the ball onto the lever. I did it that way for over 40+ years, you cannot scratch the cable. To get the cable fitting out of the backing plate, take a 1/2” 12 point combination wrench, place it over the cable with the handle of the wrench facing away backward. Tap with a hammer and the box end of the wrench will close the fingers of the parking brake cable fixture, wiggle as needed, comes right out. Note, if reusing, spread the finger out a little with flat blade and push into until it snaps. Easy. Shoes have wear points & held onto the backing plate. They were $3 in the late 60’s and worn ones were replaced. Today, take an angle grinder, carefully dress 3 pads on leading side & 3 on trailing. Apply high-temp PTFE brake grease to each spot with a dime size. Install shoes normally. Digital photo helps but remember, the long friction is alway facing backwards, short friction faces forward. It contact the drum, rotate at the bottom backward, pushes long friction into drum, stops. Same on both sides so I.D. shoes, set on ground in place for each side. Long is back, short is front. I have 400 horse ponies and don’t need disc on rear. Too dam expensive and never last as long as shoes. Believe me! ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired

Man, good to have a new video from you and see both of those beautiful machines. I was starting to worry about you. On your power steering setup, are your hoses custom made or a shelf item? If they’re a shelf item, can I get the brand and part numbers from you? I’m not happy with mine at all and, as usual, what you have looks perfect. Again, so good to see you back at it! Keep ‘em coming!

@ronster6656
@ronster6656 4 жыл бұрын
OK. I’ll definitely have to look into that. Hopefully, they sell just the hoses. I converted mine to power steering back in the early 90’s, but back then the conversion “kit” consisted of two plates that allowed you to mount a modern steering gear to the frame and a short piece of pipe for shortening the steering shaft. Finding a gear box, pump and hoses was the responsibility of the truck owner. Not exactly my definition of a “kit”. Thankfully, things have come a long way since those days. I found stuff and made it work, but it doesn’t look anywhere near as clean as your setup.

I have been lucky and found all the oem style cables , and linkage arrangement on the crossmember you pointed out in this video . the only thing I am missing to complete the job is ; THE LEFT & THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE ACUATING LEVERS & LINKS ( FORKS ) & ANTI RATTLE SPRINGS FOR LINKS . THE BRAKES ARE 11 X 2 . have seen them on e bay amazon ect. , yet not for my application ?? do you have any spare parts that could get me out of a pinch or GM part numbers or SOLID LEADS ?
