I have one of those sensors and it is not waterproof or have any I P rating so mastic or not its risky outside and a bit of electrical tape to terminate mains outside?! . Maybe you live where the voltage is less than our 240v and it doesn't rain.

Is the sensor an on-off? I bought one but it only turns on the light, I was wondering if it's damaged.

That is what i am trying to find out. But i think it just turns it on. Bought a microwave switch which is wired separately from the light . It works fine up to 0 to 11 minutes.
