INSTALL THE SOLAR CABLES AND FORWARD LOCKER GAS STRUTS (Ep04) ~ Building Marram ~ Catamaran Build !

In this video we finish off the saloon roof, ready for top coat. We installed the solar cables, mount the gas strut to the forward lockers, and install the forward cockpit locker doors, fit the Davit locks and finish off the aft cockpit floor.
Marram is a Dix 470 blue water cruising catamaran designed by Dudley Dix and is intended to cruise the oceans of the world. She is being built in Melbourne Australia and is the second 470 being built, we started our journey around 2014 and began looking for a boat - thinking about what we wanted. We looked at production boats & customs boats, in the end we fell in love with the Dix design. We took a few years to sort ourselves out and build our shed, during the shed building phase we worked closely with
Dudley and Kevin (who owns EXO Marine), we choose to build our own CNC router and cut the kit ourselves, Kevin supplied us with the cut files and we were off and running in 2016.

You should create a "spring pad" to catch the davit system as it transfers it's load forward. This will act to catch the davit and dingy as well as provide a bit of resistance when spooling in the rest of the cable.

good job guys,I maybe we don't see it in the video am not an expert, a hole requires Sikaflex epoxy resin to resist water over the years

Thanks for your comment, sorry we didnt show it on the video but we always coat all of the timber with west resin. And in some cases we drill a larger hole. Back fill it with west and cabsol then drill the smaller hole. Cheers Mel&Kel.
